According to President Vo Van Thuong, planting trees is a beautiful and meaningful act, each tree planted is a priceless gift sent to the future and future generations.

On the morning of February 15 (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), President Vo Van Thuong attended the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival in Kim Phu Commune, Tuyen Quang City. He said that, following President Ho Chi Minh's teaching "Spring is the Tree Planting Festival - Making the country more and more springy", from 1960 until now, every year at the beginning of the year, Vietnamese people have organized the Tree Planting Festival. Up to now, this movement has become a beautiful cultural feature that brings great benefits to the country.

In 2023, the whole country will plant 260,000 hectares of concentrated forests and 127 million scattered trees, contributing to the stable supply of raw materials for the processing and export industry. The forest coverage rate is over 42%. For the first time, Vietnam successfully transferred the reduction of 10.3 million tons of carbon emissions, worth 1,200 billion VND.

The President said that in the context of increasingly severe global climate change and biodiversity loss, Vietnam's consistent and continuous policy is to aim for sustainable development, determined to respond to climate change, and build a green, circular, and environmentally friendly economy.

Vietnam is gradually implementing its commitments to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 (Net Zero), with the support of developed countries in terms of technology and finance. Therefore, the tasks of protecting the ecological environment, planting trees, and protecting forests are increasingly important.

The President hopes that Tuyen Quang province will tap into its potential and advantages in terms of forest resources and forestry land, combine tree planting and afforestation, conserve biodiversity with preserving traditional cultural identity, improve people's lives, and develop rapidly and sustainably.

"Planting trees is a beautiful and meaningful act. Each tree planted is a priceless gift to the future for future generations. Trees have helped our lives, so we need to protect and plant more trees with love, gratitude and humility towards beautiful nature," the President emphasized.

Following the President's drumbeat to launch the Tree Planting Festival, it is expected that about 3,000 trees will be planted in Tuyen Quang this time, opening the new year's tree planting season.
