Accordingly, the high school graduation exam for literature is in essay form, with a duration of 120 minutes. The exam consists of two parts: reading comprehension and writing. The reading comprehension part is worth 4 points. The writing part is worth 6 points. The total exam score is 10 points.
The remaining subjects are multiple choice, including math, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, economic and legal education, information technology, technology with industrial technology and agricultural technology, and foreign languages. The math exam lasts 90 minutes. The remaining multiple choice subjects last 50 minutes.
The structure of the multiple choice test has 3 parts. Part I consists of multiple choice questions (with 4 options, 1 correct answer). Part II consists of true/false questions. Each question has 4 options, for each option the candidate chooses true or false. Part III consists of short answer multiple choice questions. The candidate fills in the box corresponding to his/her answer.
In multiple choice subjects, each correct answer in Part I is worth 0.25 points. In Part II, candidates who choose only 1 correct answer in a question will get 0.1 points; candidates who choose 2 correct answers in a question will get 0.25 points; candidates who choose 3 correct answers in a question will get 0.5 points; candidates who choose 4 correct answers in a question will get 1 point.

From 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training will have a new high school graduation exam method, in which the exam format and structure and exam orientation will also be innovated to suit the purpose of assessing the capacity and qualities of learners of the 2018 general education program.
