Continuing the volunteer trip in Lao Cai, on November 21 and 22, 2024, the volunteer steps of Hoa Phat employees were present in Cao Bang province to the districts of Bao Lam, Bao Lac, Thach An, Hoa An, Nguyen Binh, Trung Khanh, Ha Quang and Cao Bang city, giving 1,194 gifts to people in difficult circumstances affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi). Each gift is worth 1 million VND.
Connecting love on the road
The delegation consisted of 35 employees representing more than 32,000 employees of the Group, who voluntarily contributed to support people affected by storm No. 3 in the Northern provinces in September. Gathering from member companies of the Group, the volunteers were divided into 3 groups to coordinate smoothly and wholeheartedly deliver the gifts to the right recipients and the original goals of the Group's leaders.
Because the route to Cao Bang has communes and districts scattered in different areas, the group in charge of Bao Lam and Bao Lac districts had to move to Ha Giang in advance from the evening of November 20 to deploy in the locality early the next morning. The remaining two groups gathered to depart from the headquarters at 66 Nguyen Du at 3 a.m. to head to Cao Bang. At 10 a.m. on November 21, all groups were present on time at the gift-giving points that the Youth Union had supported in notifying and arranging.
Touched by the hearts of Hoa Phat people in the journey of bringing "The Road of Love" - the Group's charity program to the people in the highlands, Mr. Sam Ngoc Thoa, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thai Hoc commune, Bao Lam district, thanked the employees of Hoa Phat Group for not minding the long distance to support and give gifts to the especially disadvantaged households in the commune. This is a great source of encouragement, showing concern for the people affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi) in the locality.
Here, all people join hands, unite, and make efforts to rebuild their lives after storm YaGi.
As one of the people receiving gifts from Hoa Phat this time, Mr. Hua Van Loi, Quang Vinh commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province expressed: After storm Yagi, life encountered many difficulties in terms of crops and houses, but fortunately there was no loss of life. He also encouraged his wife and children, saying, "We don't need to worry too much, and gradually the family will stabilize again." In the village, he also reassured the people like that because of the attention of the government, the villagers and volunteer groups who cared and supported, helped and encouraged. Life is gradually getting back on track.
“Thank you very much to Hoa Phat Group for this meaningful program. On behalf of Ngoc Son hamlet, I wish Hoa Phat Group to develop more and more and receive more trust from the people. I wish the delegation a safe journey,” said Mr. Loi.
The family of Ms. Trieu Thi Bu, Rac Rai village, Luong Thong commune, Ha Quang district has 6 members, including 2 small children. Her house was affected by two floods due to the impact of the circulation after storm Yagi. Other households in the village also had their crops damaged by flooding. Currently, life has returned to peace, the pigs in Ms. Bu's pen have increased in number, hoping to reap "sweet fruit" during the upcoming Tet holiday.
Ms. Vu Thi Diep, Secretary of Phan Thanh Commune, Nguyen Binh District, said: The whole commune has about 70 households whose houses were damaged and had their roofs blown off. Currently, people have moved to a new safe place but still face many difficulties. The sharing of Hoa Phat's staff will partly help people cover basic items and necessities when moving to a new place, quickly stabilizing their lives.
“Not afraid of hardships, difficulties and dangers, go to receive hugs and tight handshakes from the people”
That is the sharing of Ms. Tran Hai Linh, an employee of the Sales Department of Hoa Phat Steel Pipe Company when she first participated in the Group's charity trip: The road was arduous, dangerous, and difficult because of many landslides, many bridges and roads collapsed and are still being repaired. However, Ms. Linh's group and 10 other staff members who went to Bao Lac and Bao Lam districts did not think too much, just encouraged each other to keep going and complete the assigned tasks well. The goal of bringing gifts filled with the affection of the Group's employees to the people helped us move forward. Age is not a problem, as long as we have enthusiasm, we can go.
“What touched us was that the people in the places the delegation passed through were still facing many difficulties. Many families lost everything, many households lost both their lives and their property, and were no longer able to work to recover. When the delegation came to give gifts, they were very respectful and loved the Group's employees with hugs, handshakes and wishes for good health, even though they could not speak much Mandarin. It was truly unforgettable. I hope that the Group's Board of Directors will organize more charity programs so that we can continue to participate,” Ms. Linh confided.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, Technical Staff of Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel Raw Material Processing Factory, was impressed by his first visit to the cradle of the revolution, which was also his first time participating in the charity program of Hoa Phat Group. I myself am excited to join the Group in bringing the feelings of our brothers and sisters to the people of Cao Bang. I knew that the road would be difficult, but the reality was far from what I thought. Only by going can I see that I have been and am still much luckier than those who go to the highlands.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, Technical Staff of the Raw Material Processing Factory, Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel (blue shirt, right) is impressed by the methodical and elaborate charity program of Hoa Phat Group.
Witnessing the difficulties of the people, such as houses still having to be temporarily covered with tarpaulins to avoid the rain and sun, or some houses still having to temporarily stay while waiting for another house to be built, we can better understand and sympathize with what our fellow countrymen have gone through. One person shared that "receiving gifts from Hoa Phat is very happy, because it will help buy corrugated iron, roofing sheets, or cement to fix the damage in the house". Seeing the joy of the people, the volunteers of Hoa Phat also felt very warm.
“Today is the first time I have participated in volunteer activities with the group and I feel very warm when accompanying everyone. Our trip focused on supporting the people in the highlands to overcome difficulties after the storm and flood, through which I realized that the lives of the people here are still full of deprivation and challenges. I believe that sharing these stories will help people better understand the circumstances of the people in the highlands of Cao Bang province. Through the trip, I have understood more about the social charity activities that Hoa Phat Group is joining hands with to support people's livelihoods", Mr. Le Minh Dung shared after the trip.
Ms. Lai Thi Quyen, Deputy Head of Organization Department of Hoa Phat Hung Yen Steel Company shared, I myself often contribute to charity programs. When I traveled to these mountainous provinces, I really loved the scenery and people here, so when the Group announced the meaningful Cao Bang charity trip, I was urged to register to participate to contribute a small part to support the people. I am also very proud to represent more than 32,000 employees of the Group to hand out gifts to the people.
If I had to say one word about the spirit of Hoa Phat people on this trip, it would be "enthusiasm".
