At around 8am, a fire broke out at a gas station on Tran Hung Dao Street, Hai Cang Ward, accompanied by several loud explosions. The fire engulfed the gas station, and a column of black smoke rose more than 10 metres high. Store employees used buckets of water and fire extinguishers to put out the fire, but were unsuccessful.

The fire police coordinated with many forces to mobilize more than 110 officers, soldiers and 8 fire trucks to put out the fire. By 8:50, the fire was under control, no casualties occurred, but three gas stations and a motorbike were burned.

According to Director of Petrolimex Binh Dinh Pham Ngoc Khuyen, the cause of the fire may have been due to the customer's old motorbike when refueling, the spark plug emitted sparks causing the fire.
