Ship CSB 8001 of the Vietnam Coast Guard and ship KN.Pulau Dana-323 of the Indonesian Coast Guard during a joint training program. |
The joint exercise at sea was attended by officers, soldiers and sailors of two ships CSB 8001, Coast Guard Region 3 Command and KN.Pulau Dana-323 ship of the Indonesian Coast Guard. Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Region 3 Command, commanded the overall exercise.
A hypothetical situation was presented at the joint exercise: during a patrol and mission at sea, two Vietnamese and Indonesian Coast Guard ships received an SOS signal from a ship on fire.
Ship CSB 8001 and ship KN.Pulau Dana-323 quickly determined the coordinates, communicated with each other via a common frequency system, urgently accelerated to the scene to approach the distressed ship, and coordinated to spray water cannons to extinguish the fire.
After the fire extinguishing mission had just ended, two ships discovered a victim who had fallen into the sea. The ships quickly determined the coordinates and urgently deployed a speedboat to approach the victim. Next, officers and soldiers brought the victim onto the ship to perform first aid to stabilize his health.
With close coordination and high determination of officers and sailors of the two forces, the missions were successfully deployed, contributing to the excellent completion of the joint training session.
Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, said that this is a practical activity for the two countries' forces to exchange and learn from each other about the ability to handle situations of ship officers and the actions of sailors in search, rescue, and fire prevention and fighting at sea.
This is also an opportunity for officers and soldiers of the two countries to gain more experience in ensuring security, safety, and responding to incidents at sea; train officers and soldiers to be proactive, creative, capable of action, brave, and improve their organizational and command capacity in performing assigned tasks.
The joint training at sea between the Coast Guards of Vietnam and Indonesia also has great significance, contributing to the realization of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Coast Guards of the two countries signed in 2021; continuing to strengthen the solidarity, traditional friendship, and strategic partnership between the two countries and two forces, towards the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Indonesia diplomatic relations in 2025.
