Marine economy is one of the key sectors that Da Nang focuses on developing. In particular, the city focuses on digital transformation of Da Nang Port and infrastructure investment to make this seaport increasingly modern, smart and meet "green port" standards.
Da Nang Port has implemented a series of digital transformation initiatives to save time, increase accuracy, eliminate paper procedures, and help customers conveniently transact through the digital environment. Outstanding applications include ePort (electronic Port), AutoGate automatic container gate, automatic fuel station, etc.
ePort electronic port software is associated with the implementation of electronic delivery orders; electronic customs clearance; electronic invoices and cashless electronic payments, facilitating customers to make contactless transactions without having to go to the port.
The software applies advanced technologies in the world such as: using robots in many stages to improve productivity, increase work efficiency and minimize errors due to manual operations; applying Hungarian container code recognition algorithm, automatically recognizing the number of containers imported and exported by ships and at the port gate...
Meanwhile, the smart container gate application is applied for the first time at Vietnam's seaports, facilitating drivers and cargo owners, achieving two important goals of "paperless, contactless".
With this application, after the owner makes an order and successfully dispatches the vehicle on the ePORT software, the driver receives the order via the phone APP, brings the vehicle to the entrance gate, the system automatically identifies, the Robot (RPA) automatically makes the order, sends information about loading/unloading the container via the driver's APP. When the driver reaches the exit gate, the camera system identifies, the Robot (RPA) automatically makes the order to open the barrier for the vehicle to return to the warehouse.
All information about containers is stored on the ePORT website for customers/shipping lines to look up, port staff only monitor the automatic implementation process of the software system at Autogate.
This procedure helps to deliver containers accurately and quickly, shortening the delivery of goods to import and export customers. It only takes about 1 minute for the vehicle to enter the port to load/unload containers, instead of doing paper procedures that took nearly 10 minutes as before.
Da Nang Port develops based on 3 pillars including seaport, logistics and tourism/services. The port has completed and put into operation the Production Control Center and server room (Data Center) applied on the newly equipped server system, fiber optic cable covering the entire port from the wharf to the yard.
Up to now, Da Nang Port is the core of the global logistics supply chain with a maritime ecosystem including Port Authority, Pilots, Border Guard, Customs, tax authorities, shipping lines and import-export business community... aiming towards an online seaport.
Mr. Tran Le Tuan, General Director of Da Nang Port, said that after the digital transformation period, the cargo volume at the port has grown impressively every year. In 2022, the port had 49 initiatives in many fields and many departments that were highly appreciated.
The two electronic port software ePORT and automatic container gate were visited and studied by Tan Cang - Cai Mep, Cam Ranh, Quy Nhon, Hai Phong ports and domestic and international delegations.
Information technology solutions are applied to help goods pass through Da Nang Port in the safest and fastest way.
Previously, when information technology solutions were not applied, the customer rooms at the port were always in a state of queues waiting to do procedures. Currently, the application of digital transformation is very convenient for customers. The rooms are empty of people coming to do procedures when all transactions have been done in a digital environment.
Along with promoting digitalization, Da Nang Port continues to invest in upgrading the infrastructure of Tien Sa Port, deploying the construction of a 20ha depot area in Hoa Vang district to become the Logistics Center of the Central and Central Highlands regions. In the long-term strategy, build and develop 2 main ports, Tien Sa Port and Lien Chieu Port, along with the Logistics Center.
