"Multi-talented" commune military officer in Ha Tinh

Nguyen Van Hieu is not only a good military officer of the commune, an enthusiastic Youth Union officer of the village but also a typical example in economic development in Duc Lang commune, Duc Tho district (Ha Tinh).

Nguyen Van Hieu is a capable military officer and a dedicated Youth Union leader.

After completing his military service in 2008, Nguyen Van Hieu (born in 1985) returned to his hometown and began participating in local activities and was elected Deputy Commander of the Duc Lang Commune Military Command and Secretary of the Son Quang Village Youth Union. Although he is a non-professional officer, over the past 15 years, he has continuously strived and devoted himself, making many positive contributions to the implementation of local military and defense tasks and the village Youth Union movement.

In his role, Nguyen Van Hieu always strictly followed the mobilization orders and action plans of his superiors, actively participated in the emulation movement to win and the youth union movement, proactively grasped the situation at the grassroots level, and promoted a sense of responsibility at all times and in all tasks. In particular, he was very active in recruiting young people to join the army, building a commune military force with sufficient numbers and strong quality, and mobilizing militia and youth union members to effectively participate in the movement to build new rural areas, repay gratitude, and reduce poverty...

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu actively guides the commune militia force in training to achieve high results.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu shared: “To contribute to the good implementation of local military work, I attended 4 years of study at Army Military School 1 (majoring in basic military). Along with improving professional expertise and political theory, I also constantly strived, trained myself, rubbed shoulders with reality, learned from my teammates and devoted myself to the job.

Thanks to that, I have promoted my role and responsibility in advising the commander and local Party committees and authorities on the implementation of military and defense tasks, organizing militia training with good results, proactively coordinating with other forces to implement measures to ensure national defense and security in the area and organizing effective, meaningful and attractive movements and activities of the Youth Union in villages and hamlets.

The militia force of Duc Lang commune discussed and developed a coordination plan to ensure security and order in the area.

In addition to his passion for social work, Nguyen Van Hieu is also a pioneer in developing family economy for militia, reserve forces, and youth union members to study. Accordingly, in 2010, he boldly invested more than 500 million VND to dig ponds, build barns, invest in seedlings and livestock with the determination to start a business right in his hometown. Thanks to his hard work, willingness to learn, knowing how to draw on experience, and not being discouraged by failure, his production model has become increasingly effective.

In addition to participating in social work, Hieu also works hard to develop his family's economy.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu shared: “After more than 13 years of starting a business, I have a hill of nearly 200 orange trees with an area of nearly 1 hectare, generating an income of 120 - 150 million VND/crop. On the farm, I also raise 20 sows, dozens of pigs/batch, 300 chickens/batch and more than 5,000 ^m2 of pond area for raising climbing fish, grass carp, bighead carp..., generating an annual income of more than 300 million VND/year. In addition, my family also grows 2 hectares of raw acacia forest, generating an income of over 100 million VND/harvest cycle (5 years)”.
