This year’s hot season is forecast to be extreme, with strong southwest winds, so protecting 2,179 hectares of forest and forestry land of the Southern Ha Tinh Forest Protection Management Board from fires has become an urgent issue. Therefore, from this moment, forest owners have urgently prepared related tasks to be ready to respond to all situations in the spirit of “prevention is the key”.

The Southern Ha Tinh Protective Forest Management Board coordinated with forest rangers to handle combustible materials under the forest canopy and make white firebreaks.

The unit also prioritizes forest fire prevention and fighting (PCCCR) in natural forest areas prone to fire along National Highway 12 through Ky Son, Ky Thuong, Ky Lac communes and 4-5 year old planted forest areas in Ky Tay, Ky Trung, Ky Bac, Ky Xuan communes (Ky Anh district); Ky Thinh, Ky Trinh, Ky Phuong wards (Ky Anh town)...

To prevent forest fires, we have established 6 shock teams with 45 people, assigned specific tasks to be in charge of monitoring and preparing for forest fire fighting drills. At the same time, the unit has arranged funds and human resources to clear 7 firebreaks nearly 10km long (10-12km wide) in the most fire-prone areas; cleared vegetation and white firebreaks for 36 hectares of pine forests; built and repaired 31 wall signs, forest fire level forecast signs, hung 120 fire prohibition signs, repaired and renewed 4 watchtowers; prepared 11 blowers, 7 locators, 65 knives and many other fire fighting tools”.

Because the forest area assigned for management and protection has a large area of pine trees, thick vegetation, many pagodas, and is close to residential areas, fire prevention and control work in the dry season is always given top priority by the Hong Linh Protective Forest Management Board and is an urgent task at present.
