The water level of the lakes has exceeded the dead water level (Thac Ba Lake is close to the dead water level), the water level has increased slightly compared to yesterday (lake water level/dead water level). Specifically, Lai Chau Lake reached 277.74 m/265 m, Son La Lake reached 178.43/175 m, Hoa Binh Lake: 102.61/80m (minimum water level: 81.9 m), Thac Ba Lake: 46.36/46 m (minimum water level: 46.5 m), Tuyen Quang Lake: 95.58/90m (minimum water level: 90.7m), Ban Chat Lake: 436.77/431m.
Currently, the amount of water flowing into hydroelectric reservoirs is also changing day by day in a more positive direction. Specifically, the amount of water flowing into the reservoirs such as: Lai Chau: 255 m3/s; Son La Lake: 507 m3/s; Hoa Binh Lake: 406 m3/s; Thac Ba Lake: 76 m3/s; Tuyen Quang Lake: 253 m3/s; Ban Chat Lake: 280 m3/s.
The amount of water flowing into Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir has also increased gradually in recent days.
Power load reduction
Updated data on the morning of June 17 from the National Power System Control Center (A0) showed that on June 17, the load of the entire power system decreased compared to June 16, reaching about 820.4 million kWh. Of which, the North is estimated at about 403.6 million kWh, the Central region is about 68.1 million kWh, and the South is about 348.1 million kWh.
The national power system peak capacity (Pmax) reached 38,375.5 MW at 2:30 p.m. In which, in the North/Central/South, the (Pmax/time) respectively were: Pmax 18,535.6 MW (1:30 p.m.)/4036.9 (2:00 p.m.)/16,276 (3:30 p.m.).

Providing information to VTC News , Mr. Tran Viet Hoa - Director of the Electricity Regulatory Authority said that on June 17, 2023, the total output mobilized from hydropower was about 165.4 million kWh (of which the North mobilized 63.9 million kWh), down compared to June 16; coal-fired thermal power mobilized 462.7 million kWh (the North mobilized 285.9 million kWh); gas turbines mobilized 91.2 million kWh. No need to mobilize oil power sources.
Large-scale grid-connected renewable energy sources reached 65.1 million kWh, of which wind power mobilized 21.9 million kWh, Pmax 1,302.8 MW (13:30); solar farm power mobilized 43.2 MW, Pmax 6,154.9 MW (12:00).
For the Northern thermal power source, the coal fuel source for production is guaranteed. Unit 1 of Nghi Son Thermal Power Plant is handling the incident. Unit 1 of Thang Long Plant stopped due to loss of furnace fuel circulation at 5:11 but was restarted after 50 minutes of handling.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from June 18 to 19, the North will continue to experience severe heat with temperatures ranging from 35 to 38 degrees Celsius, with some places reaching over 38 degrees Celsius. The area from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen will experience particularly severe heat with temperatures ranging from 36 to 38 degrees Celsius, with some places reaching over 39 degrees Celsius.
Before the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Mr. Tran Viet Hoa warned that the hot weather will continue, and the demand for electricity will increase.
"Therefore, people and businesses need to raise their sense of responsibility and promote electricity saving programs to avoid pressure on the national power system, especially in the North," said Mr. Hoa.
