On September 5, China's 360 Total Security and iFlytek became the latest tech companies to release AI models to the public.
Unlike other countries, China requires companies to submit to security assessments and obtain licenses before making their AI products available for anyone to use. Chinese authorities have recently stepped up support for companies developing AI as the technology increasingly becomes a focus of competition with the United States.
Hefei-based iFlytek, known for its voice recognition technology, said it is launching its "Spark" AI model, while Beijing-based 360 Total Security, known for its antivirus software, launched its "Zhinao" AI model, according to the Securities Times .
