Musician The Bao, who is both a friend and brother-in-law of musician Ha Sam, said that Associate Professor Ha Sam passed away at 2:45 a.m. on April 15 at Hospital 175 (HCMC).

Musician Ha Sam's full name is Ha Nguyen Sam, born on May 12, 1934 in Hanh Thien, Nghia Hanh, Quang Ngai. He joined the Propaganda Team after the August Revolution in 1945. In 1954, he worked as a researcher and composer for the Inter-Zone V Art Troupe, which gathered in the North.

From 1961 to 1966, he studied composition at the Kiev Conservatory (Ukraine); from 1966 to 1969, he was a lecturer of theory and composition at the Vietnam Music School; from 1969 to 1972, he was an intern in composition theory at the Sofia Conservatory (Bulgaria); from 1975 to 1976, he was the Principal of Hue University of Arts.

Musician Ha Sam has written a number of instrumental works, including Ba To Symphony , Afternoon on Phu Van Lau , and the string quartet Vui Xuan Chien Thang; some music for drama, folk drama, and dance music. In addition, he also has research works: Chau Van Hue, Vietnamese Music with Traditional and National Character , Secondary School Music Theory Textbook, Folk Music Textbook...

After 1975, he was the Director of Hue University of Arts and Vice President of Hue University. Many musicians from the Central region were trained by him at the Hue Conservatory of Music.

Former students attended the art program "Lullaby of the Sea Wind" by their teacher - musician Ha Sam, on the occasion of his 75th birthday in Hue, 2010.

About PSG Ha Sam - his teacher, musician Van Phuong recalled and shared: "He was very strict when sitting at the piano to thoroughly analyze the work, instructing his students to compose. He loved his students very much, was always close, reminded, and wholeheartedly taught us. Outside of class, he sometimes contributed funny stories. He often talked about the difficult years of studying, researching, and teaching in Hanoi, Bulgaria... He also mentioned memories of his hometown Quang Ngai, mentioned the work Ba ​​To Symphony that he was very fond of, written when he was young (until now, he still has not had the opportunity to stage it). Then there was a time when I saw him cry when his students wrote a good work...".

Associate Professor - Musician Ha Sam's coffin will be kept at the Southern National Funeral Home (HCMC); the visitation will start at 1:00 p.m. on April 16; the memorial service will start at 7:00 a.m. on April 18, then he will be cremated at Binh Hung Hoa Cremation Center and buried at the Southern Cemetery, Tay An Ward, Hue City.
