Bytes for Future contributes to improving information technology knowledge for Vietnamese students
Bytes for Future will accompany more than 800 students in Tay Ninh province.
Contributing to Vietnam’s education is one of the goals that Keppel’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities aim for. In an effort to emphasize this commitment, on September 17, 2024, Keppel held a computer handover ceremony under the Bytes for Future program in Tay Ninh, aiming to equip the future generation with the necessary tools and knowledge to integrate and develop in the current digital age.
The handover ceremony of computers under the Bytes for Future program took place at Dong Khoi Secondary School and Bien Gioi Secondary School, Chau Thanh District, Tay Ninh Province, with the presence of Mr. Nguyen Chi Trung, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Chau Thanh District and Mr. Joseph Low, Chairman of Keppel Real Estate Vietnam.

Through Bytes for Future, Keppel donated a total of 80 computers and four air conditioners to enhance the quality and learning environment for more than 800 students at the two schools, while also supplementing the two libraries with books donated by Keppel employees.
Dong Khoi Secondary School and Bien Gioi Secondary School are both having difficulty in providing adequate learning resources, specifically computers in classrooms and libraries for students. In addition, the increasingly hot and dry weather in Tay Ninh province in recent years has also made it difficult for students to concentrate in class.
“At Keppel, we believe that education is the key to building a brighter future for the next generation. Through ‘Bytes for Future’, Keppel hopes to enhance the learning environment for children in the digital age, especially in disadvantaged areas. We are pleased to partner with Tien Phong Newspaper to bring this program to students in Tay Ninh province. In addition, Keppel also wishes to expand the program to accompany more schools in Vietnam,” said Mr. Joseph Low.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Trung shared: “Bytes for Future is not only a social security activity with profound humanitarian meaning, helping students and schools have better learning and teaching conditions, but also practical, contributing to the locality and the education sector to promote educational development, promptly meeting the general education program in the new school year”.
Mr. Vo Thanh Tan, Principal of Bien Gioi Secondary School, said: “Bien Gioi Secondary School is located near the Cambodian border. The learning conditions of students here are much more difficult than in other localities. Therefore, Bytes for Future is an extremely valuable gift, helping students have more tools to study, access the digital world and expand their knowledge.”
In the joy of the program, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuong Huan, Principal of Dong Khoi Secondary School said: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to Keppel Company, as well as Tien Phong Newspaper for accompanying the program. Your company's support not only helps improve learning conditions but also is a great source of encouragement, motivating the learning spirit of the students.”

Over the years, Keppel and Tien Phong Newspaper have joined hands to implement meaningful CSR programs, including the Living Well clean water project initiated in 2022 and has brought clean water to about 70,000 people affected by drought and saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta; the 3,000 tree planting program contributing to Vietnam's goal of 1 billion trees by 2025; or the Valedictorian Scholarship Program, through which Keppel has sponsored 60 scholarships for valedictorians and underprivileged students with high academic achievements since 2020.
In addition, Keppel also sponsors Words on Wheels (WoW) – a mobile library programme that provides access to reading materials, audio and visual materials, and Internet access for students in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Words on Wheels has benefited nearly 38,000 students in 32 schools in Vietnam from 2011 to 2024.
