After nearly 30 years, the band Bac Tuong has successfully brought rock music to Ho Gam - the most impressive music space in Vietnam.

The May Rain Concert gathered more than 1,000 spectators, filling the auditorium. Besides the fans of The Wall in Vietnam, the show also attracted many generations of spectators from England, Australia, Singapore... to watch the show.

The story of the "harsh" and "notorious" music style of their youth is told by the members of Buc Tuong in a different way - the way of men with a new mindset.

The event marked the first time rock was present at the Ho Guom Theater - a space that reminds people of academic music programs, unprecedented for a rock band. Temporarily leaving behind the familiar electric instruments, the band used acoustic guitars to create a cozy, accessible and profound highlight. It is known that performing a live show in the Unplugged style was a plan that had been nurtured since 2012 after the meeting of the late musician Tran Lap, guitarist Tran Tuan Hung and musician Tran Thanh Phuong in Hanoi. However, it was not until more than a decade later that Buc Tuong gathered all the necessary elements for the project to take place. For the band members, Rock Unplugged - Con mua thang may is both a new experiment and a challenge that they all want to overcome.

Thanks to the elaborate preparation, the concert treated rock lovers to a musical feast that was both familiar and new. The May Rain Concert included 29 completely new arrangements, spanning 7 albums with many emotional levels. Through it, the band wanted to tell the story of their formation and development over the past 29 years, with changes, ups and downs, and even losses.

As one of the 5 guest singers in the live show, singer Viet Lam moved many audiences when he performed the band’s legendary songs such as “Kham pha” and “Tam hon cua da” with his strong and passionate voice. Singer Duong Tran Nghia brought new melodies with his husky and mysterious voice in “De Men”, “Men say”… Meanwhile, rocker Pham Anh Khoa showed his strong personal mark with the band’s new works such as “Hoang hon”, “Noi do co chung ta thuc ve nhau”…

Representing the 9X generation, Vu Thanh Van and Nhat Minh brought a new breeze when telling the story of The Wall through "May Rain", "Call"... in a youthful and open style.

Overall, the May Rain concert exceeded the expectations of experts, surprising music lovers by incorporating some works with ethnic elements that were both strange and not forced. In the space of Ho Guom Theater, the audience was able to wander with the artist Duong Thuy Anh in the performance "De Men", listening to the clear, resonant sounds when conductor Dong Quang Vinh brought the stone instrument onto the stage. In addition, the participation of the Green Wind Choir with emotional choir performances also surprised and impressed the audience.

Part of the show's production team, musician Luu Quang Minh shared with VTC News: "The biggest success of Buc Tuong at this show is that they dared to do a music night in a way they had never done before.

Over the past 30 years, the band has always tried to innovate within the framework of the Wall's colors. They do not take long strides, do not cling to the old halo, but the steady, steady steps of experienced men.

The spirit and tireless creative efforts are the factors that have helped The Wall maintain its brand in the hearts of audiences for many generations.

In the 90s of the last century, the boys of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering “ignited” their passion for rock music. They were known to the audience through the game show SV 96, quickly becoming icons of youth with a series of immortal songs that still exist today such as “Road to the peak of glory”, “Black eyes”, “Glass rose”…

Up to now, Bức Tường’s songs still have a strong coverage that few bands have. Bức Tường’s journey has inspired millions of rock lovers, aroused passions, aspirations and demonstrated the enduring vitality of the band that has “ignited” the Vietnamese Rock scene for nearly 3 decades.

After this music event, Buc Tuong is cherishing many plans for the 30th anniversary with a concert and music album at the end of 2025, in addition to domestic and international tours.
