Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan inspected measles prevention and control work in Quang Ninh.

Implementing the expanded vaccination campaign to cover measles vaccines as directed by the Prime Minister, Quang Ninh province has screened about 30,000 children who need additional measles vaccinations and is completing the vaccinations before March 30.

After inspecting the work of measles prevention and control and vaccination at the health station of Hiep Hoa commune, Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province, Minister of Health - Dao Hong Lan highly appreciated the efforts of the locality in promoting and mobilizing people to get vaccinated, ensuring community immunity. In particular, the locality has established 200 vaccination points at health stations and mobile stations; 45 emergency teams are on duty to serve the vaccination campaign across the province.

Minister of Health - Dao Hong Lan emphasized that measles is a rapidly spreading disease, with serious complications in people with underlying diseases and is developing complicatedly in many countries around the world. Therefore, vaccination is the best measure to prevent and control the epidemic and suggested that local authorities, education and health sectors together step up propaganda work so that people understand the importance of measles and measles-rubella vaccination.

As of March 26, Quang Ninh province recorded 232 cases of rash fever, including 195 cases of measles in almost all localities of the province. Notably, about 70% of the subjects with measles had not been vaccinated or had not been fully vaccinated against the disease. The ages of measles patients included adults, children of vaccination age and children under vaccination age.

To fully implement measles vaccination as directed by the Prime Minister, Quang Ninh province has reviewed and is administering more than 30,000 doses of vaccine to children from 6 months to under 10 years old before March 30.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh affirmed that measles vaccination is an important solution to prevent the disease. Therefore, the province has proactively reviewed and developed a thorough vaccination plan; at the same time, resolutely directed the organization of a mass vaccination campaign in the province. The vaccination process ensures safety and science, each vaccination site has a full emergency team with sufficient capacity throughout the vaccination process.

With the strong direction of the Government, the active support in many aspects of the Ministry of Health and the determination of Quang Ninh province, up to now, the measles vaccination campaign in the province is being effectively implemented.

Doctor Dinh Thi Hoai, Head of the Hiep Hoa Commune Health Station, Quang Yen Town, shared that most mothers are very interested in vaccinating their children. However, in some cases, mothers are workers in industrial parks and have to go to work during office hours, so the monitoring of taking their children to get vaccinated is delayed or they forget to vaccinate their children.

"The medical collaborators have gone to each subject to mobilize them to carry out vaccination work. If they cannot vaccinate this month, we will continue to call to encourage them to take their children for vaccination next month," added the Head of Hiep Hoa Commune Health Station./.
