Recently, many new economic development models have been put into trial in Binh Lieu district, initially showing remarkable results. Thereby, contributing to promoting agricultural restructuring, associated with the development of local eco-tourism and community tourism.

Last April, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; the Agricultural Economic Service Center of Binh Lieu district surveyed, selected a location and selected the household of Mr. Hoang Phuc Hieu, Luc Na village, Luc Hon commune to test the peony grape model.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Dung, Director of the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, said: The Agricultural Extension Center has coordinated with the Center for Applied Research and Technology Transfer of Agriculture and Forestry (Bac Giang University of Agriculture and Forestry), the unit protecting the peony grape variety, to organize training and technical guidance for participating households and households outside the model. Up to now, according to initial assessments, the grape plants have grown and developed healthily, suitable for ecological conditions in Quang Ninh. The construction and implementation of the new grape variety planting model in Binh Lieu district will contribute to the orientation of agricultural production development associated with other industries such as: Ecotourism, experiential tourism, community tourism, etc. Thereby, helping to effectively exploit the tourism potential of localities, create more jobs, increase income and create sustainable value in production.
Mr. Hoang Phuc Hieu, Luc Na village, Luc Hon commune shared: The peony grape tree has been planted for more than 4 months now, the tree is growing and developing well, with few pests and diseases. Currently, I have pinched the top to stimulate the branching process (level 1, level 2) and continue the pollination steps to monitor flowering and fruiting. It is expected that by December 2024, the grape tree will start to bear fruit. Before that, in 2022, my family also boldly invested in a planting model on over 5,000m2 Strawberry plants in winter. With suitable soil conditions and support and advice from district agricultural officials, strawberry plants grow well, produce fresh, juicy fruits and are currently generating a stable revenue of about 400 million VND/year. I hope that the province and district will continue to have more support policies and develop more new agricultural economic models to help people develop production and become rich on their own homeland.
In the period of 2022-2024 alone, Binh Lieu district has approved 4 agricultural extension models in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fishery in the district. The models initially put into implementation have shown positive and remarkable results and can be replicated in production in the area. Typically, in 2023, the District Agricultural Technical Service Center deployed a high-quality Japonica rice production model (J02) for the spring crop of 2023. The planting scale was 2.5 hectares, deployed in Ban Chuong village, Luc Hon commune. The total support fund for the model is over 51.4 million VND. Through monitoring and evaluating the results of the model implementation, it was shown that the J02 rice variety has strong tillering, high effective number of flowers, and an average yield of 52.7 quintals/ha, higher than the Viet Hung variety currently being mass produced locally at 8.9 quintals/ha. In the spring crop of 2024, the District Agricultural Technical Service Center will coordinate with agencies and units to propagate to the people to put J02 rice variety into production.
Or the model of raising commercial Loach Lau fish, also deployed by the district in 2023 with a scale of 600m2 , at Mr. Tran Quang Trinh's family, Pac Lieng area, Binh Lieu town. The total support budget is 115.6 million VND. Currently, through monitoring, inspection and acceptance of the model, no intestinal diseases or fungal diseases have been detected in the fish, the survival rate is about 66%; the average size is about 35-40cm, the average weight is 250-350g, reaching and exceeding the model's target. Thus, the model of raising Loach Lau fish is suitable for the agricultural production trend, easy to apply, suitable for rural households with little production land, low investment capital, high economic efficiency and can be put into mass production and replication.

In 2024, the District Agricultural Technical Service Center has advised the District People's Committee to approve the model "Application of technical measures to prevent and control diseases on star anise" and the model "Application of measures to improve the productivity of star anise". The Center continues to direct experts to review the contents of the items to make a budget estimate to ensure compliance with technical standards and model implementation time.
Currently, Binh Lieu district is promoting the implementation of the Project on restructuring agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the area for the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, in which agricultural restructuring associated with the development of ecotourism - community tourism and national cultural identity is identified as one of the key tasks of the project. In the coming time, to effectively implement the project, the district will continue to promote propaganda and training for production for people on science and technology, and the development of plant and animal varieties. Implement annual planning for model building and programs, select models and programs that are urgent, sustainable, have market potential, and can be replicated for priority implementation. Continue to build and develop new models and projects of plants and animals for products with high economic value and stable market to serve as a basis for replication in the district. Develop agricultural extension programs and project models based on closely following agricultural production planning policies, thereby exploiting advantages in natural conditions, socio-economy, bringing high efficiency, ecological sustainability associated with local tourism development.
