Provincial Party Secretary attends meeting to celebrate 90 years of militia and self-defense tradition

At the meeting, delegates reviewed the 90-year journey of building, developing and maturing the Militia and Self-Defense Forces. Over the past 90 years, the Militia and Self-Defense Forces have always affirmed their important strategic role in the people's war and defending the Fatherland.

In the homeland of Binh Thuan, the provincial militia and self-defense force has continuously grown and become stronger, achieving many proud achievements; being a mass armed force, born and raised in the revolutionary movement of the people, closely attached to the homeland, villages, each house, street corner, public, agricultural, forestry farms, factories, and enterprises; living and fighting in the hearts of the people, loved and protected by the people.

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hoai Anh affirmed that, entering the period of national construction and defense, the militia and self-defense force has always been the core and vanguard force in participating in activities to ensure security and order at the grassroots level, prevent and overcome the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics, rescue and relief, contributing to maintaining a stable environment, creating conditions for local socio-economic development. Especially recently, in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the militia and self-defense force has been a local force that has promptly and effectively promoted patrolling, propagating and mobilizing people to comply with regulations on disease prevention and control; regardless of danger, difficulty, and hardship, always standing side by side with the frontline against the epidemic. Currently, the militia and self-defense force continues to perform well in the work of staying close to the grassroots level, together with other forces to protect the peaceful life of the people.

The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that the Party Committee and the Government of Binh Thuan always respectfully acknowledge and express gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions of generations of leaders, commanders and generations of Binh Thuan militia and self-defense forces in the resistance war against colonialism and imperialism and in building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The 90th anniversary of the militia and self-defense force's tradition day is also an opportunity for each militia and self-defense force officer and soldier to be proud of the historical tradition of the force, thereby continuing to perform well the military, defense and movement tasks of the locality.

At the same time, constantly train and improve skills and tactics to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation, focusing on coordinating with propaganda forces to create consensus and support from the people in developing the local socio-economy, the revolution to streamline the organizational apparatus being implemented by the Party and the State. Actively participate in the movement to build and repair houses for people with meritorious services and eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, activities to help people, rescue and salvage. In addition, actively coordinate to participate in ensuring security and order at the grassroots level, especially in the coming time when the post-merger commune-level administrative apparatus comes into operation and there is no longer a district-level administrative unit.

The Provincial Party Secretary also requested Party committees, authorities, localities, agencies and units to create favorable conditions for the militia and self-defense forces to fulfill their tasks well; pay attention to policies and support regimes, and encourage cadres and soldiers of the provincial militia and self-defense forces to confidently carry out their assigned tasks.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Military Command also commended collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in building the Militia and Self-Defense Forces in the 2021-2025 period.
