In the early morning of April 3, Grealish scored in Man City's 2-0 victory over Leicester in round 30 of the Premier League. After scoring, Grealish did not celebrate wildly, but only quietly looked up and raised his arms to the sky as if sending something to a loved one far away.
The special moment took place exactly 25 years after his younger brother Keelan passed away from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Keelan passed away at just 9 months old, leaving a deep void in the family’s hearts. Jack was only 4 years old at the time, but the memory has always stayed with him, growing up with him.
After the match, Jack choked up and shared: "Today is a difficult day for my family. My brother passed away exactly 25 years ago today. My parents were in the stands, and I just want to play well."
On social media, he posted a photo of Keelan's grave, with the message: "You are always with me. Especially today. This goal is for you."
Jack's father, Kevin, once said: "My son may grow up to be a star, but in his heart, Keelan will always be present. We will never get over that loss."
Grealish may carry the club's expectations on his shoulders, but he always has a small corner in his heart reserved for Keelan. "That goal in the eyes of the fans is a result, but for Jack it is a priceless gift for his brother," wrote the Mirror .
Grealish scored again for Man City in the domestic league after nearly 16 months. If counting in all arenas, Grealish also went about 4 months without scoring.
