On June 19, news from Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital said that the hospital had just received and successfully treated a boy who was entangled in a shrimp farming fan blade, causing severe multiple injuries.

Accordingly, at around 9:00 a.m. on June 15, while the family was working in the shrimp farm, the boy NTĐ.K (3 years old, residing in Hoa Binh District, Bac Lieu) followed them. After that, K. got caught in the shrimp farming fan, the family immediately turned off the fan motor and took the boy to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Baby K. was admitted to the hospital in a conscious state, able to communicate, with a clear pulse, left thigh pain and crying a lot. Through examination and paraclinical testing, it was noted that the baby had soft tissue injuries in the head and face area, and a closed fracture of the middle third of the left femur.
After explaining the condition to the family, the baby was immediately admitted to the hospital for femoral fusion surgery. The baby underwent closed reduction surgery under a light-enhancing screen and was successful. Currently, the baby's health is gradually recovering, the surgical wound is dry, the left leg is moving and he can be discharged in the next few days.
Dr. Ngo Quang Dien, Orthopedic Trauma Surgery Specialist, Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital, warns that accidents caused by shrimp farming fans are quite common and often leave serious sequelae, even death. For children living with families that have shrimp farms, it is necessary to monitor them and not let them play in areas where shrimp fans are operating to avoid unfortunate accidents. In particular, for young children with femur fractures, if not treated promptly, it can easily cause traumatic shock, endangering their lives, as well as affecting their psychology later on.
