Bank employee arrested for fraud and embezzlement of 4 billion VND

On November 6, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and detain Nguyen Tai (27 years old, residing in Thanh Khe Tay ward, Thanh Khe district, Da Nang city) for the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

Initial investigation results determined that Tai is an employee of AB Bank (Da Nang Branch) and Mr. Tran Van P. (61 years old, residing in Hai Chau District, Da Nang) had cooperated many times to lend money to the bank so they knew each other.

However, because Nguyen Tai had previously borrowed money from many people, and when the payment deadline came, he was unable to pay, so he had the intention of defrauding and appropriating Mr. Tran Van P's money.

On March 27, 2024, Tai lied to Mr. Tran Van P. that he needed to borrow 4 billion VND to pay off the bank loan for his biological parents and relatives.

Da Nang City Police served the decisions on Nguyen Tai.

To create trust, Tai sent Mr. P. pictures of two land use right certificates of his biological parents and another person who were mortgaged at AB Bank.

Because he had worked with Mr. P. many times, he trusted him and transferred a total of about 4 billion VND to the bank account of Tai's biological father, Mr. Nguyen V., opened at AB Bank.

After receiving the money, Tai used it all to pay off the debts of those he had borrowed from before.

Using all the money to pay off the debt, when the payment deadline came, Tai had no way to find a way, so Mr. P discovered the incident and reported it to the police.

Based on the collected records and documents, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and detained Nguyen Tai to continue investigating and handling according to the law.
