On the afternoon of September 15, Ms. Pham Thi Luc, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Lam Huong Commune, said that Son Trinh Village, Tan Lam Huong Commune is the most disadvantaged village in the commune, but its spirit of volunteering and supporting the people of the North is very pioneering. The whole village has 99 households, and so far the list of supporters has reached 52,600,000 VND.
In the list of supporters, on average each family donated 500,000 VND, the largest household donated 1,000,000 VND. Only a few extremely poor households donated 200,000 or 300,000 VND.
“On the evening of September 12, at the village meeting, as soon as they heard the announcement that the Fatherland Front launched a campaign to support flood victims in the North, people immediately paid money that night. Those who did not have money, they rushed home to get it or borrowed money from others to support,” said the Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Lam Huong commune.
According to Tan Lam Huong Commune Chairwoman Pham Thi Luc, Son Trinh village is far from the commune center and is located in a low-lying area, so socio-economic development faces many difficulties. The younger generation of Son Trinh has found ways to escape poverty, buy land, and build houses in other better-off places, so most of the remaining Son Trinh are from the previous generation.
During the historic flood in 2020, Son Trinh was the most deeply flooded and suffered the most severe damage. At that time, the village also received the generosity of people across the country. Therefore, more than anyone else, the people of Son Trinh understand the difficulties and hardships when being hit by storms and floods. "As soon as the support campaign was launched, the people immediately agreed," said Ms. Pham Thi Luc.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Lam Huong commune also informed that the whole commune has about 4,200 households. Since the launch, the commune has received more than 800 million VND in cash and about 30 million VND in necessities converted into cash.
It is known that according to the report of the Ha Tinh Provincial Relief Fund Mobilization Committee, as of the morning of September 14, hundreds of agencies, units, businesses, organizations and individuals have supported and registered to support by bank transfer, cash and in-kind with a total value of nearly 17.4 billion VND.
