Over the past 30 years of publication, Lao Cai Newspaper for ethnic minorities has always played an important role as a timely and reliable channel of political and current information for cadres, party members and people in the highlands.
In 1994, the Lao Cai Pictorial publication for ethnic minorities in the highlands was officially licensed by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Information and Communications) to be published and introduced to readers. This was an initiative of Lao Cai Newspaper to meet the requirements of propaganda work towards ethnic minority areas in the newly re-established period of the province. Lao Cai Newspaper for ethnic minorities has 4 color printed pages, published 3 times/month (released on the 5th, 15th and 25th of each month).

Over the past 30 years of publication, the Lao Cai Newspaper for ethnic minorities has always played an important role as a timely and reliable channel of political and current information for cadres, party members and people in the highlands. The publication also comprehensively reflects economic, cultural and spiritual life; typical examples and good practices help people change their awareness and trust more in party committees and authorities at all levels, thereby making efforts to work, produce and build a prosperous life.

Comrade Giang Seo Chau, Secretary of the Party Committee of Quan Ho Than Commune (Si Ma Cai District) commented: The Lao Cai Newspaper publication for ethnic minorities is very important for the working team in villages and hamlets, so that Party cell secretaries, village chiefs, heads of front work committees, etc. have materials to serve propaganda, raise awareness, and understanding of the Party and State's policies and laws for ethnic minorities. In particular, the articles and good examples published in the newspaper are "handbooks" in mass mobilization work and leading the people to develop the economy and build new rural areas.

According to the policy of the Lao Cai Newspaper Editorial Board, in the coming time, to improve the quality of Lao Cai Newspaper publications for ethnic minorities, the agency will research and propose to the province a plan to publish the newspaper in two languages (Vietnamese and Mong), reflecting more experiences in building and consolidating grassroots party organizations, typical examples, good models, new ways of doing things in ethnic minority areas, at the same time reflecting on shortcomings, bad customs, criticizing incorrect actions, and wrong views so that the people can understand and change their way of thinking and doing things.

Faced with the strong changes in science, technology, and information reaching the people in the highlands through more open mass media, Lao Cai Newspaper pages for ethnic minorities continue to be published, meeting the information needs of cadres, party members, and ethnic minorities in the highlands. The information published in the newspaper helps the people understand that the Party and State always pay attention to ethnic minority areas and areas with special difficulties, and at the same time helps people identify the plots and tricks of hostile forces to divide and sabotage the great national unity bloc.
