Seeking comments on the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Advertising

Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Kien Giang province Nguyen Thi Kim Be chaired the meeting.

After being accepted and revised by 3 articles, the Draft Law on Advertising has amended and supplemented 23 articles, abolished 1 article and 10 points and clauses of the 2012 Law on Advertising, increased by 5 amended and supplemented articles compared to the draft submitted at the 8th Session.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Van Mao suggested that the draft Law on Advertising should clearly stipulate the disclosure and transparency of information on fertilizer and pesticide products, including information about the organizations and individuals responsible for bringing the products to market; at the same time, clearly state the uses of the advertised products for each type of plant to create a basis for stricter management.

Head of the Department of Construction and Inspection of Documents of the Kien Giang Province Department of Justice Dang Thi To Trinh basically agreed that the advertising duration in each broadcast program should not exceed 5% of the total duration of the program as stated in the draft, however, the draft law needs to specifically stipulate that each advertisement should not exceed 3 minutes so that the advertising content does not affect the content of the broadcast program for viewers.

Head of the Department of Construction and Document Inspection of the Department of Justice of Kien Giang province Dang Thi To Trinh (standing) contributed her opinion at the meeting.

Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the Kien Giang Provincial People's Council, Bui Thanh Nhan, suggested that the draft Law on Advertising should add regulations on forms of outdoor advertising that cause noise pollution to serve as a basis for managing street vending behaviors that cause insecurity, disorder, and affect people's health.

National Assembly delegate, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Viet Thang suggested that the draft law should add content prohibiting the distribution of advertising leaflets that cause environmental pollution in rural areas instead of only prohibiting advertising in urban areas.
