Ensuring the 2024 high school graduation exam takes place safely, seriously, proactively, humanely, thoughtfully, and friendly

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong emphasized that this is a national exam, the results of which serve the purpose of high school graduation, as a basis for university and college admissions and assessment of education quality.

According to the plan, the 2024 high school graduation exam will take place from June 26-29, with the two official exam days being June 27 and 28. Through synthesis, the total number of candidates registered for the exam nationwide is 1,071,393 (an increase of 47,330 candidates). Of which, 47,978 are independent candidates, accounting for 4.38% of the total number of candidates. Candidates registering online are 1,014,020, accounting for 94.66% of the total number of candidates. The total number of candidates registered for exemption from the foreign language exam is 66,927, accounting for 6.25% of the total number of candidates, an increase of nearly 20,000 candidates compared to the 2023 exam. The total exam score nationwide is 2,323 (an increase of 51 points compared to the 2023 exam).

In order for the exam to take place safely and seriously, the Ministry of Education and Training has developed a plan and at the same time reminded localities to focus on implementing well the tasks of preparing for the exam such as establishing a provincial exam steering committee; organizing professional training for exam staff; developing a detailed plan to organize and implement the stages of the exam...

At the conference, delegates discussed and resolved difficulties and obstacles in the process of performing their tasks. At the same time, they proposed solutions to organize the 2024 high school graduation exam safely, seriously, objectively, and in accordance with regulations; discussed and clarified issues related to security and order, especially the use of high technology in exam cheating; plans for disease prevention, ensuring food safety and hygiene during the exam period...

Concluding the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Head of the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam Pham Ngoc Thuong requested that localities continue to review the issuance of documents and regulations under their authority to organize implementation; review the assignment of tasks or add tasks to members of the Steering Committee. Fully prepare the conditions to organize the Exam, especially in the event of natural disasters or epidemics; support and create maximum conditions for candidates, especially those in difficult circumstances, candidates in remote areas in the spirit of not allowing any candidate to be unable to reach the exam location due to distance.

In particular, the provincial and municipal Steering Committees need to continue to seriously and thoroughly grasp Directive 15/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister. There are 5 common groups of tasks for ministries and branches: Close and comprehensive direction; smooth, smooth and effective coordination; careful and thorough preparation; organization in accordance with procedures and regulations; proactive and timely communication, providing full information, and being transparent.

Continue to check and review the overall conditions of facilities and equipment serving the exam, including: test printing location, test organization location, test storage location, test marking location, test marking location, and information technology infrastructure serving the test marking work.

It is recommended that localities properly implement the spirit of "4 rights, 3 no's", organize inspection and examination activities for the 2024 high school graduation exam in accordance with the regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training, legal regulations on inspection and examination work... to ensure that the exam takes place safely, seriously, proactively, humanely, thoughtfully and friendly.

With unprecedented situations that may occur, the Deputy Minister emphasized that it is important not to arbitrarily handle unusual situations and that the handling principles must be based on the spirit of the students' interests.

At the conference, Mr. Tran Van Thuc, Director of the Department of Education and Training, also informed about the preparations for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam in Thanh Hoa in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training. At the same time, he affirmed that, as a standing agency, the Department will continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee to continue implementing the next tasks of the exam to organize the exam seriously, safely, in accordance with regulations but without pressure, and to truly assess the quality of education.
