(CLO) Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, requested the press to create a new development space, create a creative emulation movement to contribute with the Party, State and People to create a solid foundation to bring the country into a new era of development.
On the afternoon of December 16, in Can Tho City, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Vietnam Journalists Association jointly organized a National Press Conference to review work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.

The conference was chaired by Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Minister of Information and Communications; Comrade Le Quoc Minh, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Comrade Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department.
The conference was also attended by nearly 750 delegates representing leaders of ministries, departments, branches, and associations at the central and local levels; press management and direction agencies, press management agencies; and leaders of press agencies.
At the Conference, delegates had a lively and frank exchange about achievements, results as well as shortcomings, limitations, and issues facing the press when reaching the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

According to the report at the Conference, in 2024, press agencies will continue to promote information and propaganda on the implementation and concretization of the 13th National Congress Resolution into life; promote bold, extensive, and highly contagious propaganda of important political and diplomatic events and major holidays of the country.
At the same time, the press also proactively promoted propaganda on Party building and rectification work; preventing and combating corruption, negativity and waste; informing and propagating the management and implementation of socio-economic goals and targets with many innovations and creativity in the direction of closely following and reflecting vivid reality, thereby analyzing, explaining and proposing and recommending solutions to promote more effective and quality implementation.
Regarding information and propaganda work to protect the Party's ideological foundation and fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, it has gone deeper and achieved positive results...
In particular, the press has stepped up information and propaganda to contribute to creating a high level of unity in awareness and action throughout the Party and the entire political system in implementing the summary of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee "Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently"; considering this an important task, a revolution in streamlining the apparatus of the political system, a job that requires high determination, great efforts, drastic actions and even sacrifice of personal interests to serve the common interests of the country.
In addition to the achievements, delegates also frankly pointed out some limitations and shortcomings of press work in 2024; the issues, challenges and opportunities for the press when entering the 100-year milestone of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press and the requirements when Vietnam enters a new era, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.

Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department acknowledged the results and commended the outstanding achievements that the press agencies had achieved in 2024, contributing to the overall development and success of the whole country.
To fulfill the mission well and successfully achieve the goal of "Building a professional, humane, and modern press and media", comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested that press agencies continue to deeply, comprehensively, and promptly propagate the directives, resolutions, and policies of the Party and State, especially the guiding ideology of General Secretary To Lam on the new era, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
In addition, the press must contribute to creating a new development space, must encourage and create a creative emulation movement, strongly fight against barriers and stagnation, and contribute with the Party, State and People to create a solid foundation to bring the country into a new era of development.
Besides, it is necessary to continue to promptly and comprehensively reflect the country's political, economic, cultural and social life, promote the image of an innovative and dynamic country, and contribute to enhancing the country's position and prestige in the international arena.
Regarding the state management agency of the press, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested focusing on reviewing and evaluating the implementation of the National Press Development and Management Plan until 2025; advising on amending and supplementing the 2016 Press Law and legal documents on the press in the direction of resolutely abandoning the mindset of "if you can't manage it, then ban it"; creating further institutional breakthroughs, removing difficulties, obstacles, and bottlenecks to unblock all resources, creating an environment for the press to best and most effectively promote its role, responsibility, and professional mission.
“Press agencies need to focus on disseminating the summary of the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on streamlining the organizational apparatus. The press needs to proactively guide public opinion so that the streamlining of the apparatus can be quickly implemented throughout the political system...”, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized.
Representatives of press agencies received Certificates of Excellence in Digital Transformation Maturity in 2024.
Also at the Conference, the Central Propaganda Department awarded Certificates of Merit to 31 agencies and units with outstanding achievements in press work in 2024; the Ministry of Information and Communications awarded Certificates of Excellence in Digital Transformation of Press in 2024 to 28 press agencies.
