On the afternoon of August 24, continuing the 25th session, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave opinions on explaining, accepting, and revising the draft Law on Real Estate Business (amended). According to the Standing Committee of the Economic Committee, the requirement to transact through real estate trading floors is not consistent with the current legal system (according to VTV).
- Stop implementing the "no lending" regulation in Circular 06
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has just issued Circular No. 10/2023/TT-NHNN dated August 23, suspending the implementation of Clauses 8, 9 and 10, Article 8 of Circular No. 39/2016/TT-NHNN (supplemented by Clause 2, Article 1 of Circular No. 06/2023/TT-NHNN). The suspension period is from September 1 until the effective date of the new legal document regulating these issues.
Circular No. 10 was issued immediately after Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Document No. 756 on August 23 requesting the State Bank of Vietnam to urgently review and amend Circular No. 06 to suspend the implementation of regulations causing difficulties, to be completed by August 25 to create favorable conditions for businesses and people to access credit capital. - VNG announced filing for IPO in the US
Vietnamese tech unicorn VNG, with CEO Le Hong Minh, may soon be listed on the US stock exchange after its major shareholder in the tax haven of Cayman filed for a listing on the Nasdaq stock exchange. - Steel prices fell for the 18th consecutive time.
Some domestic steel companies have just announced a reduction of 100,000-810,000 VND/ton for construction steel products. Since the beginning of the year, steel prices have decreased 18 times in a row. Currently, steel prices are commonly fluctuating around 13-14 million VND/ton. (See more)
Today, the central exchange rate increased by 56 VND. The USD price at commercial banks fluctuated slightly, trading around 23,780 - 24,150 VND/USD (buy - sell). The world USD price tends to increase.
Oil prices on the world market continued to fall today, August 24, as supply showed some signs of recovery while demand remained relatively sluggish. WTI oil prices slipped below the $80/barrel mark, while Brent oil prices fell to $83/barrel.
On the stock market , after a shocking drop last weekend, the VN-Index gradually recovered and by the session of August 24, it had increased by nearly 17 points, to 1,189.39 points. Most industry groups performed positively.
Gold prices today, August 24, on the international market increased quite strongly even though the USD also increased rapidly compared to other currencies. Domestically, SJC gold prices climbed, gold bars exceeded 68 million VND/tael in the morning but by the end of the session, they lost this mark, gold rings reached 57 million VND/tael.
Today, a series of banks announced to reduce deposit interest rates . Notably, some banks that used to maintain interest rates above 7%/year for some terms such as ABBank and PVCombank also simultaneously lowered interest rates to below 7% for all terms. Currently, there are only 5 banks maintaining interest rates of 7% or higher for long terms.
