(NLDO) - After nearly 3 months of construction, 40 houses and infrastructure systems have been completed and handed over to the people of Lang Nu.
On December 15, at the Lang Nu resettlement area, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province, a delegation from the Ministry of National Defense led by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, visited, handed over houses, and gave gifts to the people.
Reporting on the results of the construction of Lang Nu village, Major General Nguyen Huu Ngoc, Commander of the 12th Army Corps, said that the unit had built 40 houses for the people with the Tay ethnic stilt house architecture, area 96 m2/house; 1 community house with area 300 m2; 1 school with 2 primary classes and 2 kindergarten classes, with level 4 house architecture, area 220 m2; completed the entire traffic system.

In addition, Army Corps 12 coordinated with the government and people to guide and arrange apartments, clear the land, build vegetable gardens, plant trees along the road, and clean up.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien praised the 12th Corps for their efforts and determination to complete the residential area reconstruction project ahead of schedule. At the same time, he thanked Lao Cai province for working side by side with the army day and night, contributing to the rapid completion of the projects.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that in any difficult circumstances, the army is always present to help and support the people. The project to rebuild Lang Nu has become a highlight bearing the mark of solidarity, a vivid proof of the strong military-civilian relationship.

Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, said that the flood caused by the impact of storm No. 3 has caused heavy damage in Lao Cai province. In the most difficult time, the armed forces and many philanthropists, organizations, businesses and people across the country have been there to help the people of Lao Cai. The Chairman of Lao Cai province believes that with the support and encouragement of the Party and State, the attention of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, the support and encouragement of localities, the cooperation and contribution of people, philanthropists and the people will soon overcome the difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives in their new homes.
Previously, in the early morning of September 10, a landslide and flash flood occurred in Lang Nu village, burying 33 households and affecting 40 families. To date, the total number of dead and missing victims is 67 (60 bodies found, 7 people still missing). The number of people who are safe is determined to be 87.
To help people stabilize their lives, on September 21, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee organized the groundbreaking ceremony for a 10-hectare resettlement area, about 3 km from the old location. The resettlement area consists of 40 two-story houses built in the traditional Tay style with kitchens and toilets, with a total area of 1,000 m2 per household. The residential area is invested synchronously, from housing to cultural houses, schools, roads... to ensure a stable life for people.
