(CLO) Before New Year's Eve 2025, small traders and young people are selling balloons, lucky trees, sugar cane... on the streets of Hai Duong City. Although the price ranges from tens of thousands of VND to hundreds of thousands of VND, during the Lunar New Year, this is considered a "big money" job.
Before New Year's Eve 2025, many people and young people in Hai Duong City flocked to fireworks venues to sell items such as sugarcane, lucky trees, balloons... attracting many buyers to join in the New Year's atmosphere.
Hundreds of balloons of various designs are sold by vendors on the streets of Hai Duong City.
Every year, Mr. Phong (30 years old, Hai Duong City) also sells balloons on Bach Dang Street to people. Mr. Phong said: "Every New Year's Eve, most families move to the central area of Hai Duong City to watch fireworks, people's demand is unlimited and especially children love balloons during holidays and Tet."
"Therefore, my sister and I took advantage of the New Year's Eve to sell some balloons to earn extra income. Currently, the price of balloons we are selling is 50,000 VND/balloon. This year, I imported 50 balloons to sell on New Year's Eve to serve the people. Occasionally, people come to ask to buy, and by New Year's Eve, we sold out completely," Mr. Phong added.
According to research, on New Year's Eve, on average, vendors sell about 30 to 70 balloons. After deducting expenses, balloon sellers can earn about 200,000 to 1 million VND.
After Tet, Mr. Phong also often sells at some pagoda areas in Hai Duong city, where people often go to pray for luck at the beginning of the year. At this time, the number of balloons sold is also 3-4 times higher than on New Year's Eve.
Lucky trees sold on New Year's Eve cost from 15,000 VND to 30,000 VND per tree.
Not far away, Ms. Tuyen (46 years old, Pham Ngu Lao ward, Hai Duong city), a merchant selling lucky trees, shared: "Taking advantage of New Year's Eve, my husband and I sold hundreds of lucky branches to earn extra money, because the place of sale is near the fireworks display so it is very convenient for us. The price of lucky trees this year is from 15,000 VND to 30,000 VND/tree, the number of customers buying at night is also steady until New Year's Eve".
Ms. Tuyen added that her main job is selling fresh fruit. On the night of the 30th, she sells lucky trees to bring luck and have money to spend during Tet. She is currently raising 3 children so life is difficult.
Besides balloons and lucky trees, sugar cane is also a popular item for sale on New Year's Eve every year.
In general, selling balloons, lucky trees, sugar cane... on New Year's Eve is a small business that many people choose to do business every time "Tet comes Spring returns". This is a quick money-making job, which has created an increasing trend during the Lunar New Year every year in Vietnam.
