In his remarks at the ceremony, President Biden said that caring for veterans is a “truly sacred duty” and mentioned that this was his last time attending the ceremony as commander in chief. “It was the greatest honor of my life,” President Biden said.

Some in the audience stood up and applauded as Harris was introduced, Reuters reported. The vice president, seated between his husband Doug Emhoff and first lady Jill Biden, greeted others before the program began.
