The cause of this tragic death came from a brawl during a match in a tournament in Frankfurt (Germany).
In the match that took place on May 28, the young German player played for JFC Berlin in a match against the Metz academy (a team in the French second division - Ligue 2).
After the match ended, players from both teams could not keep calm and got into a fight.
According to evidence found by the police, a 16-year-old Metz student attacked the JFC Berlin player in the head.
The identities of the victim and suspect have not yet been specifically announced by the authorities.
“The brawl left a 15-year-old boy dead in hospital from a traumatic brain injury.
To clarify the circumstances, an autopsy will be carried out in the coming days,” a Frankfurt police official revealed.
Meanwhile, the French team expressed shock at the death of the German player and said they would support authorities in investigating the incident.
"All members of Metz as well as parents present at the scene are ready to cooperate with the authorities to clarify the incident.
The passing of the JFC Berlin player is a real shock to us. The whole team would like to take this opportunity to send our deepest condolences to his friends and relatives," Metz's homepage announced.
