Many big clubs are considering recruiting Viktor Gyokeres as their top choice for the striker position in the summer transfer window. |
A Bola reports that the Portuguese football giants may have to make concessions to Viktor Gyokeres in the summer transfer window of 2025. The Swedish striker wants to leave Sporting CP as soon as possible, leading to the player's transfer fee being lowered.
Many sources believe that Gyokeres has a secret agreement with Sporting CP's board of directors to let the player leave the team this summer at a reasonable price, lower than the current contract release clause (83 million pounds).
The 26-year-old striker has become one of Europe's most dangerous "killers" since joining Sporting CP in the summer of 2023. He scored 85 goals in 92 matches, including a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League group stage this season.
This season, Gyokeres has achieved an incredible performance with 42 goals and 11 assists after 42 matches. In round 27 of the Portuguese National Championship in the early morning of March 31, he scored a double to help Sporting CP continue to lead the rankings.
Arsenal and Manchester United have long been admirers of the Swedish striker, and with other targets such as Alexander Isak costing upwards of £100m, Gyokeres has emerged as a viable option for the two English clubs.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is no stranger to Gyokeres' ability, having signed him from Coventry City. If Sporting sell Gyokeres for more than £58m, they will earn almost four times the profit. Coventry will also benefit from a clause that allows Sporting CP to sell the player back.
Coventry owner Doug King told talkSPORT : “Viktor is playing explosively. If he moves elsewhere, we will benefit, although most of it will go to Brighton - the club he came to England to play for.”
Before shining at Sporting, Gyokeres disappointed at Brighton before moving to Coventry City and making his mark. He scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in the 2022/23 season, helping Coventry to a surprise run to the Premier League play-off final. After Coventry City lost to Luton Town on penalties at Wembley, Gyokeres joined Sporting for around £16.7m.
