The goal of winning against U17 UAE in the final match of the group stage to get a ticket to the quarterfinals and a place at the 2025 U17 World Cup for coach Cristiano Roland and his team is certainly not unrealistic.

Regret

In fact, U17 UAE, except for their superior physique, were not too formidable. Therefore, after the first few minutes of probing, U17 Vietnam pushed up their formation to immediately create many clear opportunities before Duy Khang opened the score in the 22nd minute.

With the first goal, U17 Vietnam still played proactively by organizing a tight defense, while creating enough pressure to prevent U17 UAE from pushing up their formation or handling the ball too comfortably.

This proactive style of play was well performed by coach Cristiano Roland's students for most of the match, so it seemed that the ticket to continue and at the same time win the right to attend the World Cup was within reach.

But, just one messy situation after a set piece, U17 Vietnam let the West Asian team equalize in the 88th minute, causing the World Cup dream of coach Cristiano Roland and his team to end in a regrettable way.

Proud

Losing the ticket to the U17 World Cup is regrettable, but looking back at the match with UAE or the entire journey of U17 Vietnam in the U17 Asian Cup, fans can be proud of coach Cristiano Roland and his team.

It is worth noting that U17 Vietnam had 3 resilient, hard-working and not too weak matches (even better than U17 UAE) against opponents who were considered stronger and had much more investment in the U17 Asian tournament.

Not only maintaining a brave fighting spirit, U17 Vietnam also improved through each match and achieved an undefeated result in a group considered "death" that could hardly have asked for more.

Not getting a ticket to the World Cup despite being so close is of course sad and regrettable. However, with all that has been shown from spirit to progress through each match, U17 Vietnam and coach Cristiano Roland deserve thanks and respect rather than criticism.
