Arabica fell 3.17% to 164.85 US cents/pound

Coffee prices today (June 26) on the world market decreased. Of which, the price of Arabica coffee reached 164.85 US cents/pound after decreasing by 3.17%.

According to records, coffee prices on the world market have decreased. Specifically, the online price of robusta coffee in London for delivery in July 2023 was recorded at 2,738 USD/ton after decreasing by 1.93% (equivalent to 54 USD).

The price of Arabica coffee for July 2023 delivery in New York was at 164.85 US cents/pound after decreasing 3.17% (equivalent to 5.4 US cents) at the time of survey at 6:35 (Vietnam time).

According to data from the International Trade Center, in the first quarter of 2023, the UK imported 51,360 tons of coffee from the world, worth 322.26 million USD, down 20% in volume and 8.6% in value compared to the same period in 2022. Economic difficulties and high inflation are the reasons why the UK has reduced coffee imports.

In the first quarter of 2023, the UK reduced imports of all types of coffee. Of which, the import rate of coffee, excluding roasted and decaffeinated coffee (HS 090111), decreased by 20.2% in volume and 17.6% in value compared to the same period last year, reaching 37,750 tons, worth 153.45 million USD.

Meanwhile, the UK imported 11,370 tonnes of roasted coffee, excluding decaffeinated coffee (HS 090121), worth US$152.1 million, down 14.9% in volume but up 5.1% in value over the same period last year.

The UK imports coffee from around 80 countries and territories. In the first quarter of 2023, the UK reduced coffee imports from most major sources, while increasing imports from Indonesia.

Brazil is the UK’s largest coffee supplier. In the first quarter of 2023, UK coffee imports from Brazil reached 11,800 tonnes, worth $53.59 million, down 19.5% in volume and 14.3% in value compared to the same period last year. Brazil’s share of total UK coffee imports increased slightly from 22.83% in the first quarter of 2022 to 22.99% in the first quarter of 2023.

In the first quarter of 2023, the UK's coffee imports from Vietnam decreased by 37.3% in volume and 39.5% in value compared to the same period last year, reaching 9,340 tons, worth 21.38 million USD. Vietnam's coffee market share in the UK's total imports decreased from 23.22% in the first quarter of 2022 to 18.2% in the first quarter of 2023.

In contrast, in the first quarter of 2023, UK coffee imports from Indonesia increased by 40.2% in volume and 9.8% in value compared to the same period last year, reaching 4,970 tons, worth over 12 million USD. Indonesia's coffee market share in total UK imports increased from 5.52% in the first quarter of 2022 to 9.67% in the first quarter of 2023, according to the latest report of the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade).
