“Homeland islands and seas” - a phrase that has long become familiar, a bridge connecting the feelings of Vietnamese people living abroad with their motherland.

During 11 ship trips organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Navy Command from 2012 to present, nearly 600 overseas Vietnamese delegates from more than 40 countries and territories have visited Truong Sa island district and DKI platform.
During those trips, overseas Vietnamese had many specific and practical activities, contributing both materially and spiritually, towards the homeland's sea and islands, such as donating to support the construction of sovereignty boats, joining hands to build a number of works on the islands, contributing to buying gifts in kind and necessities to send to the islands and DK-I Platform, the total amount of support reached nearly 30 billion VND.
The positive effects of those meaningful trips are that overseas Vietnamese have established forums, Truong - Hoang Sa Clubs, and Funds for Vietnam's seas and islands in many countries; increased research on new measures and inventions, contributing to improving the lives of officers and soldiers on the islands; regularly organized many seminars, exhibitions, and composed literature and poetry...
David Nguyen, an overseas Vietnamese in the US, will always remember his 2014 trip when he experienced and archived many valuable documents and images. From a person with an opposing ideology, he himself changed, participating in many debates, refuting distorted arguments related to sovereignty over seas and islands.
From Africa, joining the overseas Vietnamese delegation visiting Truong Sa in 2017, Mr. Le Hong Quan, an overseas Vietnamese from Angola, accompanied the project "Truong Sa - DK1 Platform, Journey of the Heart" with practical activities such as printing Truong Sa calendars, gathering resources to support officers, soldiers and people on the island, and taking care of the families and children of the soldiers.
This year's trip is even more meaningful as it is held on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975) and the Liberation Day of Truong Sa archipelago (April 29, 1975), and the 69th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Navy (May 7, 1955).
Nearly 70 overseas Vietnamese delegates from 22 countries expressed their hearts towards the Fatherland, sharing the hardships and difficulties of soldiers who guard their homeland's seas and islands day and night.
Ms. Cao Hong Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnamese Women's Association in Poland, was delighted to witness the development in all aspects in the land of the storm, demonstrating the great determination of the Party, the State, the entire people and the entire army in affirming sovereignty over the sacred sea of the Fatherland.
For the first time coming to Truong Sa, Ms. Tran Thi Chang, President of the Malaysia - Vietnam Friendship Association, brought with her the warmest hearts and gifts from the Vietnamese community in Malaysia. The affection of the expatriates is hoped to "warm the hearts" and "green the island", helping to alleviate the hardships and deprivations of the lives of the soldiers and civilians on the islands...
After 12 years, organizing overseas Vietnamese to visit the homeland's sea and islands has contributed significantly to spreading the love for the sea and islands among the overseas Vietnamese community, allowing them to witness firsthand the determination and achievements of the Party and State in preserving the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
This is also an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese from all over the world to meet, exchange and connect, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc, affirming their hearts towards their homeland, joining hands to build, protect and develop their motherland Vietnam.
