Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and Ethiopian Minister of Labor and Skills Development signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on higher education cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding consists of 09 articles, stipulating contents related to the objectives and principles of the Memorandum of Understanding, areas of cooperation, joint working groups, visits, protection of intellectual property rights, information and data security and how to implement the Memorandum of Understanding.

The Memorandum of Understanding shall be effective for 5 years from the date of signing and shall be automatically renewed if within 6 months prior to the expiry date of this Memorandum of Understanding neither Party gives written notice of its intention to terminate the Memorandum of Understanding.

Up to now, there has been no cooperation between Vietnam and Ethiopia in the field of education and training. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will be the legal basis for the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Education of Ethiopia to carry out exchange and cooperation activities in the coming time.

Vietnam and Ethiopia established diplomatic relations soon after Vietnam’s reunification. The two sides have a close relationship and have always actively supported and assisted each other in regional and international forums, including in the field of education and training.

Ethiopia's higher education system is quite diverse, with public and private institutions offering programs in a variety of fields. Ethiopia is working to increase access to higher education for all, especially for women and minorities.

Despite many challenges, Ethiopia’s higher education is on the rise. Education reform initiatives and international projects are helping to improve infrastructure, teaching quality, and student employment opportunities. Increased international cooperation and improved training quality will be important factors in improving Ethiopia’s higher education system in the future.
