Recently, after a long period of preparation, at the end of March 2025, in Van Don, tourism itineraries on Bai Tu Long Bay were officially launched. This contributes to promoting the heritage value of Ha Long - Bai Tu Long Bay, creating new experiences for tourists, and at the same time strongly promoting tourism in Cam Pha, Van Don, Co To and other areas.
For Cam Pha in particular, this is an opportunity to expand tourism to the South, where Bai Tu Long Bay is located. Mr. Bui Hai Son, Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Cam Pha City, commented that this is a positive signal, an important driving force affirming the determination to promote the potential of Bai Tu Long Bay and develop tourism in Cam Pha.
As a large city, Cam Pha is an important traffic hub with convenient roads, waterways, and seaports. Cam Pha also possesses strong potential for marine economic development, especially in the field of tourism and services with a sea surface area of over 150km²; a 70km long coastline with 50 large and small islands, especially Bai Tu Long Bay with many beautiful landscapes. Therefore, in the long-term tourism development plan, Cam Pha is very interested in developing tourism in Bai Tu Long Bay. In 2025, the city is actively researching and proposing new tours, especially developing sea and island tourism associated with Bai Tu Long Bay.
In the orientation of marine economic development until 2030, Cam Pha focuses on developing marine tourism as a spearhead, converting Km6 port into a general port and a tourist port after 2030. The city is promoting the construction of Quang Hanh beach resort complex, urban tourism projects and coastal services.
At the same time, the city has proposed a tourist route within Cam Pha city and connected two new tourist routes with Van Don district; continued to expand the tourism space to the South, coordinated with functional agencies to survey, propose, and build routes, awakening the tourism potential of Bai Tu Long Bay.
Cam Pha also focuses on building a coastal tourism urban area and developing the central beach service park space, especially the Vung Duc tourist park complex. The southern urban area of the city (about 1,000 hectares) is planned to become a Sea Square, a landscape axis - a symbol of Cam Pha. To create long-term momentum, Cam Pha is supporting investors to implement dynamic projects such as the eco-tourism and eco-urban area 4B (Cua Ong ward), Bai Tu Long 1 tourism service urban area (Cam Thanh ward, Cam Binh), and a tourism service complex in Quang Hanh.
An important highlight is the completion of new tourism products, aiming at high-end tourism, especially developing road and Bai Tu Long Bay tours, such as overnight tours on the bay and daytime tours to Ong Cu, Ban Sen and Quan Lan islands. These tourism products will contribute to promoting Cam Pha tourism to a new level, creating connections with major tourist areas in the province.
Notably, the city has connected with TUI Musement Group to bring major cruise lines to Cam Pha, promoting the exploitation of sea tourism potential. Cam Pha also plans to develop a fleet of 50-80 tourist vessels, including about 20 accommodation vessels serving tourists staying overnight on the bay.
Thanks to the above efforts, Cam Pha has exploited new tourist routes such as Vung Duc - Hon Xep Park, Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay journey by luxury cruise and Bai Tu Long Bay tourist route, which are highly appreciated by international visitors. This is an important driving force to promote the expansion of Cam Pha tourism space to Bai Tu Long Bay.
However, for sustainable development, the city needs to continue investing in infrastructure, services and realizing tours to maximize the local sea tourism potential...
