AI and Gen Z at the Heart of the Future Workforce

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên15/11/2023

Since the beginning of 2023, the global technology market has cut more than 94,000 jobs, even at Big Tech like Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta or Amazon. Of which, Meta (parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) has terminated contracts with more than 11,000 workers, equivalent to 10% of the total workforce, Google laid off more than 12,000 employees. Social network X (Twitter) even cut up to 80% of its staff, meaning about 6,000 people lost their jobs.

However, the revenue and profits of these technology corporations have not decreased, but have increased compared to previous years. Experts point out that GenAI (General AI - generative AI technology) plays a core role in this process, helping businesses optimize costs and resources while still ensuring business targets.

Con người đang phải học hỏi và thay đổi nhiều hơn trong kỷ nguyên AI

Humans are having to learn and change more in the AI era.

According to research firm McKinsey, up to 30% of current working hours in the US could be automated by 2030. Goldman Sachs believes that up to 300 million jobs could be automated using artificial intelligence. Another report also shows that more than 88% of global businesses have applied AI in human resource management and operations, of which about 44% use AI to support screening and selecting potential candidates.

On a global scale, GenAI is a new emerging workforce that is rapidly penetrating the market. Not just artificial AI or automated devices and software... this term is also used by experts when referring to the generation of Gen Z workers with artificial intelligence skills.

The young generation Gen Z (those born in 1997 and later) is quickly catching up with the AI wave, has GenAI skills and is considered a priority recruitment force globally today with 72% of people with AI skills being accepted into job applications (report by Generative AI Snapshot Research). Sharing at the Human Resources - Technology Conference (TalentX) 2023 held in Hanoi on November 15, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien, Vice Chairman of FPT University Council, commented: "Businesses will have major changes in human resource management, focusing on retaining Gen Z with AI skills to maintain development".

Bà Nguyễn Thị Thu Huyền cho biết tỉ lệ người học kỹ năng liên quan đến AI đang tăng trưởng phi mã

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen said the rate of people learning AI-related skills is growing "exponentially".

In the next 5 years, 50% of the global workforce will be Gen Z and they are becoming the driving force for businesses to change to become more relevant to reality.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Customer Relations Director of online learning platform Udemy Business, said there has been a remarkable growth in learning AI-related skills today.

Human resources issues in the digital age are being focused on by businesses more than ever. Employee Centric philosophies and strategies are being applied more widely with the help of technology solutions. A survey by the job social network LinkedIn showed that 66% of human resource managers and recruiters positively evaluated the effectiveness of AI-based technology human resources.

By applying artificial intelligence to human resource management and evaluation, many businesses have built programs to improve employee work experience, plan training, develop people, and promote career paths in a suitable and personalized way for each employee.
