AFF praises and appreciates VFF at the 2023 Annual Congress

Today, October 1, the 2023 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Annual Congress took place in Ho Chi Minh City with expectations for a new development step for Southeast Asian football.

The Congress was attended by senior leaders in the AFF organizational structure, including the AFF President and Vice Presidents, members of the AFF Council, members of the AFF Executive Committee, leaders and members of AFF functional committees, and representatives of AFF member football federations.

The Congress was honored to welcome representatives of FIFA, AFC and leaders of German, South African and Belgian football... to create cohesion among members in the common home of world football in general and Southeast Asian football in particular.

In his welcoming speech to the Congress, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan expressed his honor that VFF was trusted by AFF to be chosen as the host of the 2023 AFF Annual Congress in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said: "As the host of the important event of AFF and at the same time a dynamic member organization of Southeast Asian football, VFF believes that, with the intelligence and enthusiasm of the congress, Southeast Asian football will continue to have new developments, meeting the expectations of fans in the common home of regional football".

The Congress elected an additional position of AFF Vice President and an AFF representative to join the AFC Executive Committee for the 2023-2027 term according to the regulations. As a result, Mr. Mariano V. Araneta Jr., President of the Philippine Football Federation, was elected Vice President of AFF, thereby joining the three current AFF Vice Presidents, Mr. Pengiran Haji Matusin Bin Pengiran Haji Matasan (Malaysia), Mr. Francisco Martins Da Costa Pereira Jeronimo (Timor-Leste) and Ms. Maaike Ira Puspita (Indonesia), to complete the senior leadership of AFF towards the great goals of Southeast Asian football in the coming time.

AFF President Khiev Sameth said that AFF and he personally always appreciate the role of VFF in the overall development of Southeast Asian football. AFF President Khiev Sameth believes that with the impressive achievements in recent years and the right strategies of VFF, Vietnamese football will continue to make new strides and deserve to be one of the leading flags of Southeast Asian football. The Congress believes that with the leadership of the AFF Council and AFF President Khiev Sameth and the joint efforts of AFF member football federations, Southeast Asian football will continue to make great strides.
