ANTD.VN - In compliance with Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN and Circular 18/2024/TT-NHNN of the State Bank, An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBANK) notifies customers of the mandatory requirement to update biometric information for all online account transactions and card transactions at the Bank from January 1, 2025.

Accordingly, to avoid interruptions in banking transactions, ABBANK also recommends that customers check the deadline to reissue identification documents and complete the update of biometric information in accordance with regulations by December 31, 2024. This recommendation is to ensure that all financial transactions are safely compliant with the provisions of Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN on opening and using payment accounts and Circular 18/2024/TT-NHNN on bank card operations.

ABBANK recommends that customers complete the update of biometric information as soon as possible in accordance with regulations to avoid interruption of banking transactions.

From January 1, 2025, customers who have not updated their biometric information will not be able to perform all online transactions regardless of value (including: money transfer, bill payment, phone top-up, e-wallet top-up from payment account, etc.). For card transactions such as POS swiping, cash withdrawal, opening cards/opening online accounts, and e-wallet top-up from cards, customers will also not be able to perform them if they have not completed updating their biometric information at the bank.

In addition, according to the 2023 Law on Identification, non-chip ID cards/CCCDs that are still valid after December 31, 2024 will only be valid until December 31, 2024. Thus, from January 1, 2025, customers will also not be able to conduct transactions at banks using this type of identification document. Customers need to exchange non-chip ID cards/CCCDs and chip-embedded CCCDs that expire after December 31, 2024 for new chip-embedded CCCD cards and update their ID cards, verify biometric information at ABBANK transaction counters nationwide.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - Deputy General Director of ABBANK said: "The quick completion of biometric data update is an important regulation to enhance security, ensure safety for customers in financial transactions, and avoid risks for both customers and the bank. ABBANK will continuously improve and enhance service quality and technology infrastructure to support customers to update biometrics in the most convenient and easy way."

So that customers can update their biometrics quickly and easily on the AB Ditizen digital banking application, ABBANK notes the following points:

When verifying your face, do it in a well-lit place, with your face straight, eyes looking straight ahead, do not smile, keep your hair tucked neatly, expose your chest, and remove your glasses to ensure that your face is easily matched to your identification documents.

When authenticating a chip-embedded CCCD, it is necessary to ensure that the CCCD is still valid according to regulations, then start scanning NFC. To determine the NFC scanning location, customers can place the CCCD card on a table (the back of the card is facing up), touch the back of the phone to the electronic chip and move slowly to detect it. When there is a vibration signal, they need to keep the position to scan until there is a successful notification. For iOS devices, customers can place the CCCD perpendicular to the top of the phone and the chip is within the width of the phone, or align the chip so that it is in the correct position of the phone's front camera.

In particular, to ensure safety and security, ABBANK recommends that customers only update biometric data and identification documents via the AB Ditizen digital banking application or at ABBANK branches/transaction offices, not via any other website or application. ABBANK does not require customers to provide OTP, password, card number, security code... via phone or via strange links. Customers need to be absolutely vigilant and not provide personal information, account number, OTP code... to strangers to avoid impersonation and fraud.
