According to the report of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, in September, Vietnam exported 17,138 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 15,232 tons and white pepper reached 1,906 tons. Total export turnover reached 109.8 million USD, of which black pepper reached 94.8 million USD, white pepper reached 15.0 million USD, compared to August, the export volume decreased by 10.9%, the turnover decreased by 11.7% and compared to September 2023, the export volume increased by 3.1%.

The average export price of black pepper in September reached 6,329 USD/ton, white pepper reached 7,838 USD/ton, up 7.4% for black pepper and 5.1% for white pepper compared to August.
The top exporters in September included: Olam Vietnam with 2,380 tons; Phuc Sinh with 1,991 tons; Haprosimex JSC with 1,245 tons; Tran Chau with 1,208 tons and Nedspice Vietnam with 1,183 tons.
Meanwhile, the United States continues to be Vietnam's leading pepper export market with 5,466 tons, down 35.5% compared to the previous month. Next are the markets: UAE with 1,415 tons; Hong Kong (China) with 1,196 tons; Germany with 756 tons and the Netherlands with 562 tons.
In total, in the first 9 months of the year, Vietnam exported 200,894 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 177,953 tons and white pepper reached 22,941 tons. Total export turnover reached 991 million USD, of which black pepper reached 781.9 million USD and white pepper reached 142.1 million USD.
Compared to the same period in 2023, export volume decreased by 1.7%, but export turnover increased by 46.1%. The average export price of black pepper in the first 9 months reached 4,852 USD/ton, white pepper reached 6,461 USD/ton, up 40.9% for black pepper and 30.4% for white pepper compared to the same period last year.
Asia is still the largest export region of Vietnamese pepper, accounting for 37.8%, reaching 75,859 tons. However, compared to the same period, it decreased by 33.7%, mainly from the Chinese market. Some of the leading export markets in Asia include: UAE reaching 13,159 tons, up 41.1%; India reaching 9,284 tons, up 0.5%; China reaching 8,905 tons, down 84.1%; Philippines reaching 6,156 tons, up 2.3%; South Korea reaching 5,710 tons, up 59.0%; Pakistan reaching 4,992 tons, up 55.8%.
Exports to the Americas reached 62,634 tons, up 49.6%, of which the United States was the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper, reaching 57,289 tons, accounting for 28.5% of market share and up 53.1% over the previous year.
Exports to European markets also recorded a sharp increase of 33.6% to 50,769 tons. Germany led the region with 12,777 tons, up 87.1%; the Netherlands with 8,065 tons, up 35.4%; Russia with 5,153 tons, up 26.8%; the UK with 4,340 tons, up 17.8% and Türkiye with 3,853 tons, up 10.2%.
The African region accounted for 5.8% of the market share and increased by 14.6% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 11,632 tons. Egypt and South Africa were the two main export markets, reaching 4,729 tons and 2,109 tons, up 41.0% and 19.8% respectively.
The leading pepper exporting enterprises in the first 9 months of 2024 include: Olam Vietnam reached 20,565 tons, up 53.4%; Phuc Sinh reached 18,513 tons, up 59.5%; Nedspice Vietnam reached 15,136 tons, up 11.8%; Haprosimex JSC reached 15,053 tons, up 79.0% and Tran Chau reached 12,634 tons, down 4.5%... Some other enterprises also had a sudden increase in export volume such as Simexco Dak Lak reached 10,768 tons, up 202.9%; Lien Thanh reached 10,760 tons, up 65.1%, Gia vi Son Ha reached 6,842 tons, up 47.6%...
