According to Circular No. 31/2023 of the Ministry of Public Security regulating passport models, travel documents and related forms, from August 15, 4 new passport models will be applied.
The Minister of Public Security has just signed and issued Circular No. 31/2023 regulating passport forms, travel documents and related forms.
Accordingly, 4 passport models applied from August 15 include: Diplomatic passport, reddish-brown cover page (HCNG model); official passport, dark green cover page (HCCV model); ordinary passport, purple-blue cover page (HCPT model); ordinary passport issued under simplified procedures, black cover page (HCPT-RG model).
The Circular of the Ministry of Public Security also stipulates that the new passport cover page must have the national emblem, national emblem, and passport name printed on it; the passport must have an electronic chip. The images on the pages of the passport are landscapes, Vietnamese cultural heritage, combined with bronze drum motifs; the languages used on the passport are Vietnamese and English.
The number of pages in a passport (excluding the cover page) is 48 pages for diplomatic passports; official passports and ordinary passports are valid for 5 years or 10 years. Ordinary passports with 12 pages issued under simplified procedures are valid for no more than 12 months.
According to the circular, the electronic chip will be placed in the back cover of the chip-embedded passport. The passport cover is made of durable synthetic plastic. The letters and passport numbers are punched with laser technology from page 1 to the back cover. All content and images printed in the passport are made using modern technology, meeting security requirements, anti-counterfeiting and ICAO standards.
This Circular also stipulates that for the new passport form, the outside of the passport is printed with the national emblem, national name, and passport name; the languages used are Vietnamese and Cambodian for Vietnam - Cambodia border passports (purple); Vietnamese and Lao for Vietnam - Laos border passports (sky blue); Vietnamese and Chinese for Vietnam - China border passports (brown for officials and civil servants; gray for border residents).
The passport has 16 pages (excluding the cover page) for Vietnam - Cambodia and Vietnam - Laos passports; 28 pages for Vietnam - China border entry and exit passports.
