(NLDO)- According to a representative of the Ministry of Public Security, since Decree 168 took effect, people have complied with traffic regulations even when there are no traffic police.
On the afternoon of February 5, at the Government press conference, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, Deputy Chief of Office, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, informed about the traffic order and safety situation during the Lunar New Year 2025 and people's awareness of complying with traffic order and safety regulations after implementing Decree No. 168 regulating administrative sanctions for violations of traffic order and safety in the field of road traffic; deducting and restoring points on driving licenses.

According to Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, during the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday, traffic order and safety have seen very positive changes, with traffic accidents decreasing sharply in all 3 criteria. In particular, for the first time, a double-digit decrease was recorded.
Compared to the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday of Giap Thin 2024, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 258 cases (equivalent to 36.69%); the number of deaths due to traffic accidents decreased by 128 (37.61%); and the number of injuries due to traffic accidents decreased by 232 (38.34%).
Regarding Decree 168, after more than 1 month of taking effect (January 1, 2025), according to Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, the awareness and traffic participation behavior of people, service drivers, truck drivers, passenger car drivers... and even owners of transport businesses have changed very positively and clearly.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security stated that people have been more seriously complying with the law on traffic safety and order even when there are no traffic police on duty.
In which, traffic participants obeyed traffic light signals, drove in the correct lane and road section according to regulations; on the highway, vehicles did not drive in the emergency lane...
According to Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, many violations have decreased sharply compared to the previous period, typically: Violations related to alcohol concentration decreased by 13%; violations related to speed decreased by 2.1%; violations related to overloading, oversizing, and extending the container wall decreased by 44%.
"The number of cases of drivers on the road with drugs in their system decreased by 21.5%; violations of traffic light signals decreased by 36.7%; violations of helmets decreased by 23.8%; violations of traffic controllers' commands decreased by 31.5%; carrying more people than the prescribed number decreased by 46%..." - Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Public Security said.
A representative of the Ministry of Public Security said that initially, people have participated in traffic in a more orderly and safer environment, gradually forming a healthy and civilized traffic culture.
In the coming time, the Ministry of Public Security requests that press agencies continue to strengthen propaganda about the effectiveness of the Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order, as well as Decree 168 of the Government and changes in the situation of traffic order and safety.
