On the afternoon of September 19, Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VEC E - the management unit of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway) announced that the construction unit had completed the repair of the expansion joints of Long Thanh Bridge and was ready to restore the road surface.
Long Thanh bridge expansion joint has been repaired.
According to the expressway management unit, by the morning of September 19, all expansion joint repairs at pillar P20 had been completed, 4 days ahead of schedule.
Time to return the land to traffic starts from 11pm tonight (September 19).
"After removing the lane blockade, VEC E will continue to restrict speed at the above location, and is expected to return to the design speed from September 23," Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong, Deputy Director of Vietnam Expressway Technical Services Joint Stock Company, noted.
Traffic through Long Thanh Bridge is about to be cleared again after many days of repairing the expansion joint at pillar P20.
According to VEC E, over time of operation, the expansion joint at pillar P20, Km 12+228 (left side of the route) in the direction of Dong Nai - Ho Chi Minh City has broken rails. If not repaired promptly, it will cause unsafe construction.
According to the repair plan approved by the investor, to replace the new expansion joint at the bridge pier, the contractor chiseled and removed the concrete layer; removed the old expansion joint, installed a new expansion joint, and poured concrete at the joint between the expansion joint and the asphalt concrete of the bridge deck.
Construction started from September 5 to September 23 (18 days of construction). To complete the repair of the expansion joint ahead of schedule, the construction unit worked continuously through the night on Long Thanh Bridge and shortened the time by 4 days.
