The theme “Harvest Day” was chosen to honor the value of agriculture, especially rice cultivation on terraced fields, a characteristic of Vietnamese culture. Participating robots will have to perform tasks simulating the rice growing process, from sowing to harvesting.
For thousands of years, rice has been associated with the Vietnamese people. Rice not only brings prosperity but also becomes a beautiful feature in the cultural and spiritual life of the Vietnamese people. Today, rice is both an important food source and a strategic export item of Vietnam.
In Vietnam, there is a unique form of farming in the traditional agricultural activities of people living in the highlands, which is terraced fields. People will choose hillsides and mountains to create flat land to cultivate and sow rice. The main purpose is to prevent erosion, improve and protect the soil.
With those meanings, in recent years, terraced fields have become a tourist highlight attracting many domestic and international tourists, becoming a cultural beauty and pride of the Vietnamese people.
Based on these ideas, Vietnam Television, together with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, organized ABU Robocon 2024. This is an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce the country's image to international friends, while affirming Vietnam's position in the field of technology.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee said: Quang Ninh ensures that the stadium is fully equipped with equipment and facilities according to international standards, has a plan to ensure absolute safety for contestants from all countries, and ensures medical work. Communication and tourism information work is also included in this Robocon event with the goal of coordinating in the most positive, proactive and responsible way so that the ABU Robocon competition can take place successfully.
The entire ABU Robocon 2024 competition at Quang Ninh Provincial Sports Complex on August 25, 2024 will be broadcast live on VTV2 channel of Vietnam Television and livestreamed on the social network platform Facebook VTV2 Quality of Life.
