10 Vietnamese films released, 'pocketing' more than 1,000 billion VND

In the first quarter of 2025, there will be 10 Vietnamese films released, respectively Rain on the Butterfly Wings, The Four Guardians, The Billionaire Kiss, Love by Mistake, Ghost Lamp, Ancestral House, Possessed, "Say Hi" Brother: The Villain Creates the Hero, Vietnamese Concert Film: We Are Vietnamese and Yin and Yang Road.

According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam , the total revenue of the above films reached 1,089 billion VND . Of which, The Guardian Quartet lead with achievement 332.1 billion VND . The next positions respectively belong to: Ancestral home ( 241.9 billion VND ), Billionaire Kiss ( 211.6 billion VND ) , Possessed ( 146.3 billion VND ) and Ghost lights ( 106 billion VND ).

Besides the 5 domestic films that have surpassed hundreds of billions in revenue, some other names have quite modest achievements such as Rain on Butterfly Wings (646 million VND) or Vietnamese Concert Film: We are Vietnamese (207 million VND).

In general, the domestic film market in the first quarter of 2025 has developed quite vigorously, with achievements slightly better than the same period in previous years. In just 3 months, there have been 5 Vietnamese films that have surpassed the hundred billion mark in revenue - an unprecedented phenomenon in history. The genres of films shown in theaters are also quite diverse (comedy, love, family, romance, music, horror).

Tran Thanh's monopoly at the box office during Tet in previous years has also been broken by the appearance of two names Thu Trang and Hoang Nam. Specifically, thanks to a smart distribution and promotion strategy, Billionaire Kiss had a spectacular comeback when overthrowing The Guardian Quartet in the second week of release. Shortly after, Ghost lights Hoang Nam's "The Last of Us" continues to surprise by rising to the top of the box office.

Ending the Tet movie season, the appearance of Ancestral home and Possessed continue to heat up Vietnamese cinemas. In the coming quarter, the domestic box office is expected to have many more variables when a series of new Vietnamese films are released. Notable among them are Tunnel by Bui Thac Chuyen, Flip Side 8 (Ly Hai), Detective Kien (Victor Vu).
