On the afternoon of March 20, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, requested the school to urgently resolve the issue of nearly 1,400 students of the American International School Vietnam (AISVN) coming to school but without teachers.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires the Chairman of the School Council and the school principal to perform professional duties and manage the school in accordance with regulations. The school needs to quickly find a solution to end the situation of teachers resigning en masse to ensure stable educational activities.

The Department recommends that schools implement solutions to maintain and organize teaching and educational activities according to the program plan, ensure maximum learning benefits for students, and resolve students' transfer to other schools according to parents' needs.

AISVN International School is responsible for reporting to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City (through the Department of Management of Non-Public Educational Institutions) before 3:00 p.m. every day.

In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires AISVN International School to prioritize ensuring students' learning rights and not to interrupt their studies.

The leaders of this Department also requested the heads of the Department of Education and Training of districts, Thu Duc City, principals of high schools, multi-level general schools and foreign-invested schools to create favorable conditions for receiving students who want to transfer from AISVN international school to study.

Previously, on the afternoon of March 18, dozens of parents of AISVN International School gathered at the headquarters of the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling, and Environmental Crimes - Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC03) and the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, reporting that nearly 1,400 students were suspended from school on March 18 and many other issues related to the school.

According to parents, on March 17, the AISVN International School Board held a meeting with parents to inform them about the school's operations.

At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em, Chairwoman of the school board, said that the school's finances are currently difficult and unstable. The school has not been able to pay teachers and staff for many months. Although the school has focused on finding solutions to the current financial difficulties, it is not feasible.

The meeting lasted more than 8 hours, but no common voice was found between the school and parents.

At 9:00 p.m. the same day, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em sent an email to all parents, announcing that students would be temporarily off school on March 18.

After a day off from school and strong opposition from parents, on the evening of March 18, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em sent an email to all parents, announcing that the school would reopen and resume classes on March 19.

However, since the school reopened, there has been no teacher in the classroom. Whether students go to school or not, or come and go, is not under any control from the school.
