Japanese Yen Continues to Rise Ahead of US Jobs Data Release

Today (May 3), the Japanese Yen exchange rate continued to increase strongly waiting for the employment report to be released, the black market Yen exchange rate increased sharply.

Japanese Yen exchange rates surveyed this morning at specific banks are as follows:

At Vietcombank, the buying rate is 157.89 VND/JPY and the selling rate is 167.11 VND/JPY, up 1.15 VND for buying and 1.09 VND for selling. At Vietinbank, the Yen rate increased by 4.53 VND for buying and selling, equivalent to 161.11 VND/JPY and 170.81 VND/JPY. At BIDV, the Japanese Yen rate increased by 0.66 VND for buying and 0.71 VND for selling, respectively reaching 158.61 VND/JPY and 166.99 VND/JPY. At Agribank, the buying and selling rates are 158.64 VND/JPY and 166.53 VND/JPY - down 0.35 VND for buying and down 0.38 VND for selling.

At Eximbank, the buying rate increased by 1.42 VND and the selling rate increased by 1.63 VND, respectively, to 160.75 VND/JPY and 165.71 VND/JPY. At Techcombank, the Japanese Yen rate increased by 1.92 VND and the selling rate increased by 1.87 VND, respectively, to 157 VND/JPY and 169.43 VND/JPY. At Sacombank, the Japanese Yen rate increased by 1.75 VND and the selling rate increased by 1.8 VND, respectively, to 161.72 VND/JPY and 166.78 VND/JPY. At HSBC, the Japanese Yen rate decreased by 0.56 VND and the selling rate decreased by 0.6 VND, respectively, to 158.27 VND/JPY and 165.21 VND/JPY.

According to the survey, today Sacombank is the bank with the highest buying rate of Japanese Yen and HSBC is the bank with the lowest selling rate among the banks.

Domestic USD mixed, world continues to decrease slightly

USD exchange rate on May 3, USD VCB increased and decreased in both buying and selling directions, world USD continued to decrease after the FED's monetary policy decision.

The central VND/USD exchange rate announced by the State Bank is adjusted to 24,242 VND/USD, down 4 VND compared to the trading session on May 2.

Currently, the exchange rate allowed for trading by commercial banks ranges from 23,400 - 25,450 VND/USD. The US Dollar exchange rate has also been brought to the buying and selling range by the State Bank of Vietnam from 23,400 to 25,450 VND/USD.

The USD exchange rate at banks and domestic foreign exchange rates this morning recorded a series of mixed increases and decreases at banks. Specifically, Vietcombank's buying price was 25,114 and its selling price was 25,454, up 26 VND in the buying price and down 4 VND in the selling price compared to the trading session on May 2. The current USD buying and selling prices are in the range of 24,000 - 25,500 VND/USD.

In the world market, the Dollar Index (DXY), measuring the USD against 6 key currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 105.41 points - down 0.35% compared to trading on May 2.

SJC gold surpasses 85 million VND/tael

Today, SJC gold fluctuated, the highest level reached 85.10 million VND/tael, world gold turned to decline after a sharp increase.

At the time of survey at 5:00 a.m. on May 3, the gold price on the trading floors of some companies was as follows:

DOJI listed the price of 9999 gold at 82.60 million VND/tael for buying and 84.90 million VND/tael for selling.

SJC gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited is also traded by the enterprise at 82.95 - 84.85 million VND/tael (buy - sell). Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Manh Hai, it is being traded at 82.95 - 85.05 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed the buying and selling price of gold at 82.9 - 85.1 million VND/tael, an increase of 400,000 VND/tael for both buying and selling. The difference between the buying and selling price of gold at SJC is currently at 2.2 million VND/tael.

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 2,303.10 USD/ounce, down 14.6 USD/ounce compared to yesterday's gold price. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is about 69.490 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 13.41 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
