In order to ensure good equipment serving training missions and combat readiness for the armed forces of Military Region 2, on June 26, 1978, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army issued Decision No. 178/QD-TM on the establishment of Factory X78.

With the task of maintaining, repairing, and synchronizing weapons and technical equipment for units, generations of officers and soldiers of the unit are always united, unified, striving, promoting the spirit of initiative, creativity, self-reliance, overcoming all difficulties, completing well and excellently all assigned tasks.

In particular, over the years, Workshop X78 has always been the leading unit and the center of science and technology of the Military Region 2 engineering sector. In 2022 alone, the Workshop maintained, repaired, and synchronized nearly 10,000 guns and artillery of all kinds, dozens of cars and armored vehicles, 3 tons of spare parts, refurbished more than 10,000 wooden parts of infantry guns, produced 13,000 mechanical parts... In addition, the Workshop also helped Laos train technical staff and maintain and repair hundreds of artillery, thousands of infantry guns, hundreds of cars, armored tanks...

Speaking at the meeting, Major General Tran Anh Du, Deputy Commander of Military Region 2, acknowledged and commended the outstanding achievements of Workshop X78 over the past 45 years. At the same time, he requested the Party Committee and the command of Workshop X78 to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the directives and resolutions of higher levels, especially Resolution No. 1656-NQ/QUTW dated December 20, 2022 of the Central Military Commission on leading technical work until 2030 and the following years; the Campaign "Management, exploitation, and use of technical weapons and equipment, good, durable, safe, economical and traffic safe"; be active, proactive, and creative in completing assigned tasks excellently.
