Authorities have fined a high school student in Dong Nai for lending money to a classmate at high interest rates, earning tens of millions of dong.
On February 8, Phu Lap Commune Police (Tan Phu District, Dong Nai) filed a case to handle administrative violations against a student in the area, for the act of lending money at high interest rates.
Previously, the board of directors of Ton Duc Thang High School reported to the authorities because they suspected that some students were involved in loan sharking.
Then Phu Lap Commune Police stepped in to verify.
Through investigation, the police determined that PTH (18 years old) lent two students H.D.H. (19 years old) and PVHP (19 years old, both living in Ta Lai commune, Tan Phu district) a total of 17 million VND.
It is worth mentioning that PTH lends at interest rates 12-28 times higher than current regulations, thereby illegally profiting more than 10 million VND.
Expanding the investigation, the police discovered that PTH borrowed 7 million VND from D.TAK (17 years old, living in Phu Lap commune), with an interest rate of 400,000 VND (not exceeding 5 times the highest interest rate according to regulations).
After borrowing the money, PTH lent it to his classmates at a higher interest rate to make a profit.
Because the amount of money PTH illegally earned was less than 30 million VND, this male student was not prosecuted criminally, but only administratively punished.
The police force recommends that parents pay more attention and regularly coordinate with teachers in managing and educating their children.
At the same time, actively coordinate with the police force in preventing, detecting and handling violations of the law.
