Xiaomi wants to promote the development of clean green products

Xiaomi set its first greenhouse gas emission reduction target in 2021 to reduce its per capita greenhouse gas emissions from its own factories by 4.5% by 2026 compared to the 2020 baseline. As of December 31, 2022, the company has reduced its per capita greenhouse gas emissions by 21.12% compared to 2020.

In addition, in 2022, Xiaomi invested more than 50% of its total R&D expenses in clean technology research and development. In the same year, the application of clean technology patents and products brought in 59.7% of the company's revenue.

In 2022, Xiaomi recycled about 4,500 tons of e-waste, including smartphones. From 2022 to 2026, the company pledged to recycle 38,000 tons of e-waste and use 5,000 tons of recycled materials in its products.

Xiaomi continues to expand its Trade- In program by increasing the types of products that can be recycled and the scope of recycling services. The company conducts in-store, postal, and home collection of used products to encourage consumers to recycle their products.

The company is committed to promoting the development of a circular economy by refurbishing used products. In 2022, Xiaomi's refurbishment and upgrade factory refurbished about 94,000 smartphones, 5,600 electric scooters, and 6,200 smart TVs, all of which were sold as certified refurbished products.
