Building happy schools for Vietnamese stature

Every March there is a special day related to happiness - something that everyone is looking forward to, which is "International Day of Happiness March 20". Each person will have a different definition of happiness, but in general, to have a happy person, that person needs to be placed in a happy environment. For children, that environment consists of three main parts: a happy family, a happy school and a happy society.

For Vietnamese stature - the program broadcast at 8:10 p.m. on March 23, 2024 on VTV1, Vietnam Television - will talk about the topic "Happy School", providing interesting and useful information, with multi-dimensional perspectives of leading experts, teachers, school leaders, students and parents, to promote the awareness of the community and society, aiming to join hands to bring students what they need and lack, supporting them to maximize their potential, comprehensively in "morality-intelligence-body-beauty".

At the program, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam, Vice Rector of the Hanoi National University of Education, said: Happy School started from a Unesco project launched in 2014 with the aim of promoting happiness and comprehensive development of learners, valuing and nurturing diverse talents and strengths rather than learning outcomes. According to him, every day at school is a happy day, so a school that always brings happy and positive emotions to everyone is a happy school.

In recent years, the keyword "Happy School" has gradually become familiar and popular in Vietnam. Images such as teachers welcoming students at the school gate at the beginning of class to give them high fives, etc. have brought beautiful emotions and promoted their learning spirit. At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, the Ministry of Education and Training also stated: "The new school year needs to focus on building safe and happy schools."

Pioneering in pursuing the philosophy of building a Happy School, a place to nurture joy and excitement in learning, TH Group has opened the first school year (2016-2017) at the TH School system. According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khanh Dieu Hong, General Principal of Vietnam TH School System; Director of the Institute for Educational Research and Human Resources Development - Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA): "Talking about the criteria for building a happy school, TH School has implemented it right from the beginning under the leadership of Labor Hero Thai Huong - Founder of TH School System, in which the three core values ​​are Heart - Mind - Strength. All three of these values ​​have been implemented throughout our development process until today. At TH School, we empower students, and they are the masters of their own happiness, masters of their own dreams".

A volunteer program in Con Cuong district (Nghe An) was implemented by TH School students themselves.

At this international standard school system, all 5 elements of Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relationship, and Emotional are focused on to ensure the happiest learning environment for students. Students form a Council and lead each other, develop their own projects and programs for extracurricular activities, volunteering, sports, and music.

TH School students receive special attention in terms of nutrition and physical fitness. The school's nutrition program is built according to a scientific nutrition pyramid with high-standard input materials that are strictly selected. The school has full modern facilities for students to study, play sports, and promote rich experiences of happiness.

TH School’s unique learning model integrates the world’s advanced curriculum with the quintessence of Vietnam. Accordingly, 80% of the curriculum is taught in English and 20% in Vietnamese, meeting the goal of both preserving Vietnamese cultural identity and becoming global citizens.

TH School is a multi-ethnic school, teachers and students of the school come from 27 different countries, so each individual, each student must be happy in a loving community, with a culture of sharing, knowing how to support and help each other. Most recently, TH School organized the Happiness Festival - TH School Happiness Day 2024 with the theme "Where happiness blooms". The event brought a "multi-sensory feast" attracting more than 1,500 participants, together experiencing cultural - artistic - sports - intellectual games - international cuisine activities, bringing students moments filled with joy with family and friends, spreading the spirit of Happiness and the core value "For true happiness" of TH Group.

From the core value of "For true happiness", in 2022, TH Group and the Fund for Vietnamese Stature also launched the "Happy School" project in Son La, Nghe An, Lao Cai... In the beginning, the project aims to complete the upgrading of facilities of degraded schools and complete capacity building activities. Thereby, helping all teachers and students of the beneficiary schools to teach and learn in spacious, safe and friendly schools with a lot of knowledge and skills equipped such as training on clean water, personal hygiene; proper nutrition for children, oral care for children, recognition and support for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and prevention of accidents, drowning and first aid for children; so that every day at school is a happy day.
